Hey everyone. I'm kinda new here on the forums. For those of you who purchased this Pavillion dv6233se, I had a few questions about your experiences. Just wanted to find out if you're having the same issues as I am.
The notebook is white and has a 15.4" widescreen, AMD Turion X2 (1.6), 1GB Ram, 120GB HD, and Nvidia go6150.
1. Does the laptop get pretty hot after a while? Sometimes, it gets pretty hot to touch the wrist pad below the keyboard.
2. Do your dv6233se's fans go on and off, from time to time? It's been getting irritating.
3. Have you guys ever sent it to HP for repair? Did it work?
Thanks. I would appreciate answers from owners of this laptop or those who have had friends/family that experience the same thing.

Hi, I have a similar experience, the machine can get quite warm especially when windows vista is set in 'High performance' power mode. The fan going on and off all the time is a natural way laptops work, however I do find the fan kicks in probably too late and shuts down early thus keeping the entire chassis rather warm. I don't think its a physical fault but more an issue HP will have to resolve with a BIOS update as that is where the fans are exclusively controlled on this model.
Using RMclock I noticed the fan only kicks in at 59c for the cpu core temp and stops at 51c which I think is already uncomfortable... -
Have you ever tried to send it to HP and have the notebook repaired? Even on PowerSaver, it still gets pretty hot. I thought AMD Turion's were supposed to be on the cool side. Should've gone with an Intel. Thanks for replying. Let me know if you find out a fix to this problem will you? Thanks.

The wrist pad below the keyboard is where the HD is. Some HDs get hotter than others. It's luck of the draw which HD brand you get. The CPU fan also helps cool the rest of the chassis so if the fan doesn't run often enough the rest of the notebook will heat up a bit more.

sendmarksmail, I havent asked HP about it as history shows these type of problems are 'within design' and my bad experience of sending new hardware for service and getting it back in a 'used' state leaves me with a hard preference to try solve problems myself..
brianstretch, can you recommend any HD models which are known to run cool? I wouldnt mind replacing mine if that is the case. My current drive in the DV6233SE is a Seagate ST912082 1AS.
Thanks -
I sold my dv2000t recently and got a nc6400. It came with a 7200 rpm drive, but installed the seagate drive that i bought for my previous dv2000t. Well, the temps are way lower in my nc6400; it usually idles around 40-42 C and the palmrest NEVER gets warm.
Today is different, though, as it's cool outside and the hard drive temp is sitting at 35 C.
Only thing i can say is that perhaps the plasticky material used in the outside casing for the dv series has to do with the high drive temps. I know the nc6400 comes with some magnesium alloy casing, which may prove to be better on drive temps. -

Seagate would have been my first choice. Hmm. I'm not sure what to recommend now.
