i have a hp dv6500 laptop and my fan has been making noise ever since i bought it last summer. i haven't had the time to fix it because i'm in college. can i replace my fan by my friend or does that void the warranty on my laptop? i know what model number my fan i just don't know what type of fan is the one i should buy, i want a really quite fan because i can't stand the loud noise?

t should be under warranty and if so you can try to have hp replace it for you.

You will void your warranty if you do it yourself. Get HP to replace it for free if your still under warranty

What kind of noise is it making?

it makes a buzzing sound every couple of seconds. i have NHC and it tells me that my temp is between 48-52 degrees. a couple of times when i start the computer it makes this loud buzzing right as i turn it on. it sounds like somthing is blocking it or its broken

Probably just a defective fan. I also have a dv6500t and have no issues with the fan. I'm sure its the same one they use on the newer 6700t as well. You just need a replacement fan. Your the first person I have heard with this problem so its probably not a common issue.
