I have read that the dv6500 with dedicated card can get really hot at moments. Also that it makes noise because it's trying to cool down. Is this the same case with the integrated x3100 card? Is it true I will have more battery life with the x3100 than with a dedicated card or is this a myth?

it is true but i dont think the difference is much to talk about. battery life will be maybe 15mins more at the most i reckon.

You should get better battery life but I have the x3100 and my fan is ON most of the time...maybe mine is not the norm, but it gets Hot ....

Really? It still gets hot? Grr... I find it hard to pick out my new laptop. Each laptop seems to have a flaw. The Sony Vaio FZ has high pitch noise and fan problems, Dell is too expensive (in Belgium no coupons), etc.

Wow, so X3100 owners still have hot running notebooks? :( How is your battery life with the X3100? Has anyone tried undervolting their CPU and feeling a difference in heat?

If you undervolt you will lose around 10-15c off your max temps. Each processor has different voltage tolerance
