    Hi guys I have recently brought a new hp laptop... specs given below

    HP Pavilion dv6500t CTO NB
    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
    - Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7500 (2.20 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
    - 15.4" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
    - 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)!!
    - 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
    - HP Imprint Finish (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone
    - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)
    - 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    - LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    - 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

    i have changed the os to vista ultimate.... my questions is do audio data also come from the hdmi port....
    coz i recently attached an hdmi cable to the hdmi port on my laptop and attached it to my 40inch sony hdtv..... but the sound came from the laptop only not the tv...
    i plan to buy a 12 feet or longer length hdmi cable so do i need to buy a audio cable also....?????

    You have to set sound playback device to digital output.

    As Lithus said, you have to change the output default into "digital output" through the "control" menu and "sounds" option.
