    Just curious,

How portable is the 15 inch dv6500t. I've heard that it's lighter than other laptops in it's class.

...And yes I've heard before that if you're looking for something that's portable, it's best go with a screen size 14" or under, but I was just wondering about the dv6500t, mainly because I've seen others with it that carry it around on a somewhat regular basis.

If there's anyone that has owned one of these machines (or a similar machine in the family) could you share your experience.

Is it something that it would be possible to carry around 4-5 days a week?

Also, how much weight would a 6-cell battery and an adapter add? I'm guessing about a pound each, is that true?

    Thanks

I don't have trouble lugging my dv6500t around with a 12cell and AC Adapter, and I'm a wimp.

Maybe you're a wimp in the mental sense :) If you're tall and heavy and have got a big frame, then of course, it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm the antithesis of physically capable. Seriously. 5"11, and I weigh 120 pounds. Don't even ask me how I keep it off; I really eat like a pig.

with a 12 cell battery it's pretty heavy... but it's not too heavy in my opinion. assuming you're not lugging around much else other than the laptop, it's fine. i dont have trouble lugging around my dv6500t in my school bag with other books and such. if that helps at all. and if you want an idea of my frame, i'm nothing special. 5'10 170 in americanized measurements.

my roommate has a dv9000 (same size and look of the 9500 but without the fingerprint reader) and his was too heavy for me to carry around, especially since i wanted to take it to class etc..so i settled for the 6500 way back in june. i wanted something portable but not too small, i think the 15.4" is screen is perfect for me. try carrying around the 9500...its a pain imo.

From this site's own reviewer Andrew, this you tube video compares the dell 1520 to the HP dv6500t. Its pretty obvious that the dell is a tank when next to the dv6500t. I have a dv6500t and agree, it is a excellent design and minimizes bulk/weight for a 15.4" system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQB0-9g5H_c

DV6500T is a good size. Went on a trip to the UK and it wasn't that heavy to carry through the airport. 12 cell battery doesn't that much weight and it's worth the 5 hours of battery life. DV6500T fits on the airplane tray with the edge hanging over by a couple inches. It will rest on your stomach but it's no big deal.

The perfect case is this one on Newegg.

You'll notice is has the most positive reviews. The DV6500T fits perfectly inside. I face mine backwards and the bump of the battery lines up with the liner that hold the laptop in place. There's plenty of room for cables, charger, and mouse. Plus the case will go through airport security just fine.
