I just bought HP dv6700 special edition notebook (KT260AV) and found that microphone sensitivity is very bad. I am using preinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium. I tried to upgrade Realtek audio driver to R1.85 (downloaded from HP) and today R1.99 (downloaded from realtek). No improvement.

I tried to max out microphone level and even boosted it to +20dB and then +40dB. Nothing has improved but static noise.

If I connect extarnal microphone quality and recording level is much better. Anybody knows how to deal with this problem?

On my old dv2000 similar problem was solved when HP finally released updated driver for infamous waikiki chipset. But that was over a year ago. Do they still have this kind of problem?

Sit closer, tilt the screen closer to you (every little bit helps a surprising amount) or give up and buy a $5.00 over-the-ear microphone. I finally did the latter.
