I've been shopping around for a decent (but cheap) laptop for my best friend's mom. The budget is $500 max, but one of these two are better than anything else I've found (by far) and I'll kick in the extra $41.75 myself. (Note- I'd normally laugh at a $500 budget, but she is a cancer patient and money is really tight).
She will only be using it for casual internet surfing, paying bills, etc. Which of these two will be the best choice?
HP Pavilion dv6700t
Vista Home Premium
1.86GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core T2390
2GB RAM
160GB Hard Drive
b/g Wireless
DVD SuperMulti
No Webcam
HP Pavilion dv5z
Vista Home Premium
1.9GHz AMD Athlon X2 QL-60
3GB RAM
160GB Hard Drive
ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3200
b/g Wireless
Webcam
dv6700t
PRO- Better processor performance, effective heat management, no "bugs" to work out (been around for a while)
CON- Inferior graphics performance, no webcam, design is aging
dv5z
PRO- Stylish, excellent integrated graphics, webcam, 3GB RAM
CON- AMD QL-60 processor, concerned about reports of heat issues
How do the stack up?....input appreciated!

for internet it doesn't matter, they both should run fairly cool as there will be very little stress on the CPU. I would (Assuming the exactly same price) get the DV5z as it is a new model... and it would help keep AMD alive to keep intel in-check.
Not to mention a Web cam might be something your friends mom might like to use...? -
DV5z is a better overall value. You would not have to attach any other than a wireless mouse.

dv5z. The heat difference won't be much. Plus it's an ATI card, not Nvidia. Besides the dv6700t is old, might as well get the newest look. AMD/Intel. It won't matter if you're not gaming. Plus you can get a webcam with the dv5z.
HP dv6700t or dv5z- both $541.75 shipped- which one???
