Right, so, search on this forum has never liked me... i dont know why i expected it to work this time...
ANYWAY, I am working on an HP laptop for a family member (military discount sale... or they wouldn't have bought an HP...), and everything works fine except the webcam!
Sadly, this is for said family members daughter to help when hes deployed!
BLAH BLAH BLAH the root of the issue is that the webcam shows up under USB ports as "Unknown Device", in hardware id's in the details of the device it just says: "Unknown\UnknownDevice", its the only device on the laptop that doesn't work!
Now, I have parts from my old dv9000cto, so I tried plugging in the webcam from it, it also doesnt work... so I am to conclude the issue is on the motherboard!
My main purpose of this post is to find out if anyone has had, and solved this issue, short of replacing the motherboard and/or laptop outright. I can use a soldering iron, not afraid to get burned, rig fix's, ect!
Sooooo if anyone knows of how to fix it, please let me know, or point to where it has been solved before!*
*Not a driver issue... please dont link a driver thread, or anything even remotely related to drivers... I could have uber 1337 drivers and it wouldnt work because the device hardware id is UNKNOWNDEVICE, not a proper recognizable ID...
