    I didnt see any other threads going so i made my own.
    Basically a lesser version of the hdx 16
    So far i know it can come with a 9200m gs and the intel 4500. Im not sure if an amd version exists but maybe some day.
    Heres a picture of one i found in office depot today ( sorry for poor quality i took it with my cell phone and there was a creepy lady standing next to it so i was in a hurry ) http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w356/Tippey764/SSPX0016.jpg

    Yes, in general they quote a time that's a bit padded, I've ordered HP laptops a few times and they've always ended up getting here quicker than expected except for once when an order was placed over the holidays when there's understandably more of an order backlog.

    It should take 3-4 days at most, so Friday is a very good possibility.

    For those of you that have the dv6t does it have the little multimedia remote like the dv5t did. the hp website doesn't say anything about it but the amazon version does. I think the remote is a good little feature especially since while in Chicago this thing will be my tv and computer.

    Well as a quick little review I'm happy with my purchase. I haven't yet deleted all the bloatware that comes with it or eliminated the programs from the startup but it's still been fine for me. I bought the bigger 6 cell battery and on the plane ride home last night i was able to watch a 2 hour movie and still have 55% power left over(i did have the system on power saver mode). system i had made is this.
    - HP Pavilion dv6t Entertainment PC
    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P7450 (2.13GHz)
    - 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Brightview Display (1366x768)
    - 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    - 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS
    - 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    - Webcam Only
    - HP Color Matching Keyboard
    - Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card
    - No Modem
    - LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    - No TV Tuner w/remote control
    - High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    - Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
    - HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

    I am new to this site and I wish I had read all these reviews before ordering my laptop, it is suppose to arrive today. I am basically using it for work, school, web surfing, watching Blu-Ray DVD's, and TV. I was not aware of the upgrades available for the graphics card so I got the basic Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD. I wondered if this will be good enough for watching movies and such I have read conflicting reviews and debating if I should exchange this one for the better graphics card. Please I would appreciate others opinions.

    i think for watching movies you should be fine with the video card you got. many people over exaggerate the need for a better graphics card as an option you NEED to have otherwise you can't do anything on your laptop!

    pure bs.

    it's like getting navigation for your car but spending 99.9% of the time driving around in areas you are 100% familar with. did you need navigation? no. can you drive w/o navi? yes. so you basically spend money on an option that you dont even need or use!

    watching a showon your video card vs. watching the same show on an nvidia card with 512mb vram - i feel that the difference will be negligable - assuming there is a difference anyway....

    perhaps if the difference in price betw. intel and nvidia gfx card are minimal, then you may want to opt for the higher spec'd one but that's only if you have the cash to burn. you may as well spend that $ on a larger/faster hard drive, a laptop case, etc etc etc.

    Last week I got my HDX18t and today I ordered dv6t for my wife.
    I found 30% off coupon so everything came to ~$808 with TV card and Blue ray.

    this is my setup:

    • Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    • Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.2GHz)
    • FREE Upgrade to 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
    • 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP BrightView Infinity Display (1366x768)
    • 50% OFF!! Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer
    • [For BrightView Infinity Display] Webcam + Fingerprint Reader
    • Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth
    • HP Integrated HDTV Hybrid Tuner
    • HP Color Matching Keyboard
    • 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

    Since my wife use laptop mostly for web surfing, some data processing, email, VOD and TV, .... setup is not aggressive on ram or HDD, but I can always replace them later with more ram and SSD. Also I left Intel Graphic card because I think it is more than enough for everything except gaming.

    Major difference between hdx16t and dv6t is screen option. dv6t comes with HD screen with 1366x768 (basically 720p) resolution while hdx16t has also option for 1920x1080p (1080p) resolution. With 16" screen, I don't think it will make such a big difference like it did on my HDX with 18" screen.

    comparable setups hdx16t vs dv6t have difference in price in the range of $300~400. Not sure if minimal hardware differences are worth that much.

    As far as shipping.... a lot of people are in wow about HP time line. Well HP knowingly is setting long ETAs to cover unexpected delays. That's why laptops usually arrive few days before ETA. I got mine hdx18t delivered on original production date. From what I see 90% of the orders are the same way.

    Now I need to wait for my box to arrive ;)

    I spoke too soon :D
    For some reason tracking shows "in transit" Shanghai , CN.
    This time it took 2 days to change from Picked up to in transit, and as of today after 4 days status didn't change.

    I just wonder if there is something wrong with FedEx tracking or plane from Shanghai is missing :D Usually it takes 8 hours to get to Anchorage, AK. This time its already over a day and nothing.

    very weird.

    If you have the money for the HDX16, and if you will be gaming in some extent, then you should go to that option, it has the 9600gt as the GFX card. I also think it is better looking than the DV6.

    Now if your budget is a bit tight and don't plan on gaming that much, then DV6 is the way to go...

    Hi everyone,
    I need help deciding between a G60t and dv6t with virtually the same configuration and price. I will use the computer for the internet, multimedia (including watching online streaming video), and for number crunching. No gaming.

    I need an HDMI port and only an NVIDIA graphics card will get me that in a G60t, whereas the dv6t comes standard with the HDMI. Other differences seem to be: the G60t has a microphone and the dv6t has a remote control. Otherwise, the specs are the same.

    Can anyone advise me about which one I should choose?

    got my dv6t for a while now. My wife is very happy with it. Built in Intel video works perfect and smooth with TV tuner, BluRay and all other HD content. Don't care about Nvidia because we don't play games on laptop.

    Finish and overall look is great. I love that imprint.
    Built in Tuner is a perfect add-on when you want to watch TV on your trips.

    hdx16t was loo much, g60t was not enough
    dv6t is just right ;)

    Ordered my Dv6t. Preferred over HDX as I didnt need blue ray and though the At HD 4650 was better than the Nvida 130m. Should arrive by April 17 2009. I'll post my review then.

    Wow $1000 was a great price. I paid $1184 for similar specs but got the P8600, 250GB 7200rpm HD no TV turner and 6 cell battery. No major issues so far. I have THE popping sounds which seems to have subsiding greatly after windows updates around 23 of them.

    My quick take :
    Looks - best looking laptop after 3 months of searching.
    performance: I put it to the test of running Crysis and it did no problems using the 64bit ver at medium settings.

    Wifi needs to be updated to latest drivers to correct dropping connection issues.

    Tempertures : none issues here stays cool after running crysis for about 1 hour. didnt do any readings yet. Fan is also pretty quiet.

    All in all happy with my purchase. just need to totally get rid of the popping sound.

    This is perfect.

    I JUST missed the -200 off coupon , so I'm going to have to wait and hope another coupon swings by :( Or I can just use my weak 10% APP instead. ARGHHH

    Just ordered mine today, using the 400.00 off coupon.

    It was a tough decision, and I spent days and days deciding between the 14.1" dv4t, or this beast. Also, the HDX was an option, but didnt feel it was necessary, and like hobbs, felt the ATI card would perform better.

    Here's my specs:

    HP Pavilion Entertainment dv6t customizable Notebook PC

    * • Espresso Black
    * • Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    * • Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P7450 (2.13GHz)
    * • 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    * • FREE Upgrade to 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    * • 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 4650
    * • 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Brightview Display (1366x768)
    * • LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    * • Webcam Only
    * • Wireless-G Card
    * • No TV Tuner w/remote control
    * • HP Color Matching Keyboard
    * • 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    * • No Modem

    When I get it, I will def post my review!

    Nice specs Supermarket, you'll be happy you got the 12 cell battery as I have the basic 6 cell and it doesn't last 2 hours with the ATI HD 4650 spec even doing web only.
    Not to nit pik but I would have spent the $25 for the wireless N with bluetooth as you may not need it now but it may come in handy later.

    The ATI HD 4650 is great. I did but it to this test of running crysis and no problems no lag with a few settings on high and the others on medium, looks pretty good. It becomes a little laggy when everthing is set on high but hey this is not a gaming lappy. So I figure I should be able to run any game out there right now.

    I also have a Dv4t but I much prefer the size of the Dv6t. The keyboard and palm area as well as the number pad are much more comfortable.

    My current complains with my Dv6t are:

    1. the popping random popping sounds for which there seems to be no easy fix right now. tech supports treid a few reintalls of drivers but no luck. May be a hardware design issue (yikes) and they want me to send it in for repair.

    2. The finger print reader seems to have issues with firefox and IE8 as it keeps asking to setup passwords for web sites even though i already did (although it works fine for this site) so I dont know yet what's going on there.

    3. The screen on these HP laptops do look a little washed out to me but just a little.

    I just ordered a maxed-out DV6T using the $400 off coupon, NB8766. Based on my research and what I'm reading here, it should be a very stout laptop.

    It's maddening to have to wait more than a week for it, but I promise photos and benchmarks when it arrives.

    - HP Pavilion dv6t Entertainment PC
    - Espresso Black
    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.4 GHz)
    - 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    - 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    - 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 4650
    - 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP BrightView Infinity Display (1366x768)
    - LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    - [For BrightView Infinity Display] Webcam + Fingerprint Reader
    - Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth
    - 50% OFF!! HP Integrated HDTV Hybrid Tuner
    - HP Color Matching Keyboard
    - High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

    While I'm waiting, you guys need to keep this thread alive with impressions, opinions and info to keep my drool factor going.

    very nice :)

    I DID think about getting the better network card - HOWEVER, My girlfriend and friend are both getting the dv4tse and the dv6t (same specs but with bluetooth) respectively....and since Ive never even owned anything with bluetooth or camera capabilities....I think I'll be fine using theirs if I have to :)

    However, I HAVE been beating myself up for not ordering the P8600 (2.4ghz).....its not worth re-ordering though. All the benchmarks show VERY little performance difference between the P7540 and the P8600, so no biggie. The main thing to get was the 1gb ram, a P series processor, and the ATI 3650 :)

    How did you order a back lit keyboard because that option isn't available when configuring it on the website? just wondering.

    The keyboard is not backlit, that option is only available on the HDX. It looks backlit maybe because of the camera flash reflection of the white letters on the black keyboard. The keyboard shows much better in low light than on the DV4t with the white oon silver keyboard.

    Supermarket: You maybe right I have not used my bluetooth yet I only tested it by connecting to my phone. I'm sure you'll be happy with your specs ( I known you meant ATI HD 4650 and not 3650) The ATI 4650 is blazing fast. Graphics pop up lightning fast. When you get it one of your first task should be to get rid of some of those memory hogging bloatware on the PC that all launch at start up. Slows it down a lot. Let me known if you get that popping sound.

    You're right, I did mean the 4650 :D :D

    And of course, just like when I first got my dv5z (which got stolen from my old apartment) FIRST thing I did was a fresh install of Vista.
    Thankfully, I have free access to a website (because of my major in the university) which allows me to download and burn Vista DVDs for free. All I need is my registration, which comes on the HP laptop. So I always
    1) Do a backup of the HD from when it ships
    2) Format
    3) Install a fresh copy of Vista with drivers and everything

    Crap, the website was from last semester, and I used 32 bit before, I hope I can still access the website and create a 64 bit copy

    edit: I just checked the web-site, and unfortunately I no longer has access because it was from a class from last semester registration.

    however, the DVDs I burned were Vista Business, and I believe they might contain BOTH 64 and 32 bit

    They DID work with my vista key from the back of my old dv5z, I think though instead of installing busines it installed whatever the key was for. I know the Vista Business has all versions of vista on it, the only difference is what key you use

    edit #2: I also just realized I can download the full versions of Vista containing all versions including 64 bit from any torrent site (mods note: I'm not talking about any illegal copies, I will be using my licensed I payed for with HP laptop)

    I really am so excited about this laptop.

    The dv5z was an AMAZING laptop, it was my second laptop (other one was an old toshiba) and by far it convinced me never to buy a desktop again. It was perfect for all my needs.

    hobbs, how do you like the fact that they added in a numpad? Like others have said, it seems rather pointless. Do you think it interferes or effects the keyboard layout in a negative way?

    The number pad is a nice touch and very useful for number intensive task. I'm an Accountant so when using MS excel it comes in handy, however for regular number usage like keying passwords etc I find myself using the regular numbers across the top quicker.

    The only fault with the number pad is it's a bit cramped and narrow if you are use to a regualr keyboard desktop pad. I'm sure my brain will adjust in time.

    The size/feel of the keyboard and palm rest area as well as the touchpad I would give a high rating.

    Why are you concerned about getting vista, The new lappy comes with a it on a partitioned drive. I believe you just restore from there without the other HP stuff.
