Edit by justinkw1: All dv6t Select Edition discussion has been split from the original dv6t thread to prevent confusion between the two generations. Discussion regarding the original dv6t should continue at http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-owners-lounge-forum/336832-official-dv6t-owners-lounge.html, while Select Edition owners should continue discussion here in this thread -- see http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...ect-edition-owners-lounge-17.html#post6368001.

Might want to cancel and re-order...
Blu-ray is now a free upgrade... and there's a $200 off code using NBSW22318... -
as for the coupon code, overall i saved about the same with HP academy discount on the laptop and all the accessories i ordered. unless i can use the academy and the coupon code together it might be too much hassle. :\
edit: just tried to configure a laptop using the coupon code. i cant use it with hp academy discount and if i use the coupon code end up saving $30-40 on my total order including accessories -
Does anyone have one of the Select Editions in hand yet?
-
^ I was wondering the same thing. I'm trying to decide between the dm4t and the dv6tse right now, and pics would be a great help. :]

My order. Around 850 after taxes.

I'm in the burbs with the parents now, but I'm usually in Manhattan.
I'm already anxiously and irrationally checking status updates, haha. -
-

Microsoft office 2007
HP USB TV tuner
Logitech Anywhere mouse mx
HP slim adapter
the tv tuner comes with a media remote to to use the laptop as a TV. I'm not sure the laptop has an IR receiver though or if is built into the USB itself. R u getting anything with your's? -
I didn't order straight from the site, but I'm getting a Crumpler laptop bag (got a nice discount there from working Tribeca) and a wireless mouse.
-

-
Sweet.

Shipment Was Initiated
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Does anyone know what the actual color of the DV6tse is? I ordered one, and was going to get a sleeve or something to match. If anyone has high rez pics if they could post them too that would be great.
Thanks -
-
What color would you say that is...?
Is there an hp sleeve that matches that color? I know it sounds gay, but I was wondering? -
gay? lol
I would say its a beige/silver
well as of now there is none in the 16 inch size... at least that i know of. im sure if u look around u will find a beige color sleeve. there is a good chance HP will come out with a matching accessories to replace their espresso and moonlight white themes though. -
Ordered this on May 28th.. About the same time you did NyCityKid.

We'll see when it ships. They say June 9th, but I hope a lot sooner than that. Pllleeeassseee!!
Also, I started a thread over in the Accessories forum talking about bags and stuff. I've never owned a laptop before so I wasn't sure where to start with accessories. http://forum.notebookreview.com/acc...ed-my-first-laptop-hp-dv6tse-accessories.html -
nice specs man
-
@Morx - So you ordered on May 28, and estimated ship date is June 9? Wow, I ordered mine yesterday (June 2), and estimated ship date is June 11. I guess HP got faster over the last couple days.

Really looking forward the hearing about the battery life on the non-i7 versions. If it gets at least 4 hours with the screen at 50-60%, wifi on, and the "Balanced" profile I am sold.
-
I ordered mine right before a Holiday weekend, so I can only imagine that is delaying things a little bit. I can't wait to finally have a mobile media station. Downloading HD quality video files, and being able to bring em over to a buddy's place and watch them through the HDMI out is something I'm really looking forward too.
As soon as I get mine, I'll try and post up some battery timings as well for reference. -
For those who havent seen my review already:

Overall i give it a 9/10, i still cant believe how cool it runs. -

Yep, under 80C for an i7 is good and low 70s for the GPU is great. Gonna get this config for $800 soon enough

I think that is a clearer way of putting it. -
with the i3 you would save on battery and heat for a hit in performance not noticeable in most applications
-
-
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
Battery life and heat are probably going to be equal, the i3 might perform slightly better, but most people don't need an i5. Any C2D at around 2GHz will be more than enough for 90% of users and any i-series processor is great for 5% more. Only a very small percentage of people really need high end i-series processors
-
are u suggesting either go for an i3 or all out for an i7? Thereby sufficiently catering for both consumer segments
my laptop uses 15.34W on idle and goes to 55W on load. -
The i7 cannot switch between integrated and dedicated graphics. So an i5 still has a place for those who want more processing power than an i3 but also want to conserve battery life as much as possible.

Notebookcheck: Review Intel Core i3/i5/i7 Processors ?Arrandale?
The I5-540M is around 6% slower in computing time that the I7-620M. That would make the I5-540 approximately 37% faster in computing time than the I3-330M. IMHO, the I5-540M is well worth the $200 increase over the I3-330M. Any CPU dependent function could benefit from the better CPU. Although the I5-540M's turbo speed is not that much faster than the I5-520M (3.06 vs 2.93) the idle speeds are separated by .5ghz.
Edit: Posted before I saw your last comment ... if the price of the unit is cheap enough, I could see keeping the price to a minimum. I just want to make sure you get the right specs for when you are selling this model next month. -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
Thing is that I am not even buying one anymore, I am sticking with my dm4t. Though my brother is probably going to end up getting one (or a GE600). -
how are other people finding the temperatures on the new dv6?
