HP dv6t, dv7t Select Edition / Quad Edition (6XXX series) order status discussion

The reason i created this is cause no one else has created it and the mods haven't really bothered. Have been going through the owners lounge to find out about any issues the laptop might have and other details on it but all i really found was people discussing delays, and it is really annoying.

Mine's delayed until the 21st... But I did get the 10% off

 

I'm currently on my first delay, expected the 22nd of this month and I recieved the useless 15% off coupon for a later order. Has everyone prettymuch gotten the 10% off coupon for their current orders on the 2nd delay?

Yes, and they made it 2-day shipping without arguments.

 

How many delays have you had? I've had one, and got talked into circles with an online chat trying to get upgraded to 2nd day shipping. Maybe I ought to try it again.

 

This is my third one (from April 1 to 11 to 15 then to 27). I got the 2-day shipping from first delay after three attempts. They will also tell you that they will expedite your order even if you do not request for it as long as yours is delayed. I did complain a lot to confirm.

 

For those who got the 15% coupon with first delay:
Is that a notation on your account for a discount on your next order, or a coupon code, or what?

I think I didn't get it because the dv7tqe orders, while attached to my email address, do not show up in my account. If I log in, I'm told I have no pending orders. If I check order status with an order number, it shows my email address and both orders.

 

I got a coupon code in an email that came after the delay message. It's good for 15% off through the end of July.

It almost sounds like you weren't logged into your HP account when you ordered the computers somehow. You did get the actual email saying it was delayed?

 

You got it. I ordered on the phone after putting the computer in my shopping cart online, and somehow they failed to attach the orders to my account. My 12 day delay email said nothing about a 15% discount coupon.

I found a survey link in my delay email (delayed from 4-08 to 4-20), and when I clicked on it, it told me the order number was invalid. I changed the order number in the link to my order number (Why was there a link in an email about my order with a different order number attached? Drunken HP web programmers I guess), and got a message that my order had been shipped, please wait until my status updates.

I have not received any other indication that my order may have already shipped.

Nice! It says mine is shipped too, (ESD is 19 Apr), so it's possible in terms of timelines. Maybe this is a clue that some of the supply problems have been addressed? Fingers crossed, and tx for the link!

 

If everybody gets that message, it's probably about as meaningless as 'I just checked, and your order isn't on the delay list'.

It would be nice if somebody with a May delivery date were to try my link. If their order was 'shipped' too, we can just ignore it.

 

I tweeked the numbers and got a survey, so I'm not so sure. If someone who is well before there ship date tests it with an actual order number, that would be cool.

Sweet specs man, but the Quadro is for graphics design. If you want to play games on your computer, the graphics card is not going to perform well.

I'm not sure if this has already been discussed.

I called today to confirm that I still wanted to order after the 2nd delay and was informed that since I already got a $50 refund, that the 10% does not apply to me because the maximum refund is $100. So it's not $50 off and then 10% off, it's a grand total of aprox 97.00 off my order. (not $150 like the e-mail made it sound)

Also they told me that the order was standard ground shipping. Now, the previous manager that I spoke to said I was going to be getting the expedited shipping, which apparantly is NOT true and they aren't able to give it to me.

The first rep I talked to today also tried to get me to order a "Quick Ship" model that they had in stock and ready to ship, she told me that it was almost the same as my original order but that it was such a slight change that I wouldn't experience a difference.....Oh, and it would end up costing me about $100 MORE than my current order (after discounts). She at first couldn't tell me what the difference was, but then disclosed that it was the more basic video card. At this point I finally got her to transfer me to a manager. I had him stop telling me the differences after the 2nd item because it was lower video card, 5400RPM hard drive (and some other differences that I don't care about).

He did tell me that the batteries and everything else were in stock, but that they were waiting for the replacement chipsets from Intel....Who knows if it's true though.

I'm mostly pissed about the delay, and 2nd most pissed about being lied to about shipping. In all reality the money doesn't mean much to me because I need this laptop sooner than later!

 

After fighting with the HP reps I got them to send me the Quick-Ship model. (HP Pavilion dv6-6091nr) The video card listed is the Radeon™ HD 6770M. Note that the specs listed are wrong and you have to look in the " PDF version of all specs" under the specs tab. I also got them to throw in a free 9-cell battery when it comes back in stock. The only con is that its a 1TB 5400RPM vs my other order was a 640GB 7200RPM HDD.
I paid $877 for the original and $839 for this one. I'm hoping there are no problems with this one. Anyone know how the Quick-Ship model is different other than the things I mentioned?

 

In my case on the 2d delay, the resolution department rep and manager confirmed 10% refund off the price (after coupon discount, before tax) plus additional $50 refund for the missed 8g memory upgrade.

 

Did you confirm with hp that it's shipped with the radeon 6770 and not the 6570?

 

Yes I did and the rep told me that information in the PDF is the correct information. I believe that the specs listed in the specs tab are for an older generation dv6 (maybe the silver ones) because the DV6-6XXX does not have e-sata ports but the specs list says it does. The PDF correctly lists the USB 3.0 ports. Plus I dont think the 6570 was sold with the DV6-6XXX series (I could be wrong).

Either way I will update everyone when my item arrives on Tuesday.

I just looked it up and the HP Pavilion dv7-4295us Entertainment Notebook PC has the 6570 but the one I purchased, the HP Pavilion dv6-6091nr Entertainment Notebook PC, has the 6770.

I called hp to check on this because my dv6tqe is delayed till 4/27 and if the quick ship model came with the 6770 I would of canceled my order and ordered the Dv6-6091, hp customer service told me the PDF is incorrect and that it comes with the 6570 not the 6770. After reading your post I'm going to call again and mention some of the other differences you listed and see if I could get a different answer.

 

Hmm...interesting. Anyone else love how in sync the reps are with one another.
All I know is that the dv6-6XXX has USB 3.0 and the GPU customization options are the 6770 or the 6490. If I don't receive a 6XXX series I will promptly return it and make some serious demands. But here to hoping that the laptop will be what I wanted.

As a side note I looked at the customizable dv6 quad page and it is now displaying an old graphic with a silver version of the laptop, interesting.

 

Ok just got of the phone with hp and after a long wait on hold while they were checking, they did confirm the PDF is accurate which like you said would make sense. Now I need to make a decision should I cancel my delayed order and order the quick ship model with free two day shipping.

 

If you don't mind me asking how did you get the price down to $839.

 

After my first delay they offered me a "15% off your next purchase coupon". I asked if I could use this on my new order and they let me. I think the CSR also lowered the price with some special discount.

Your best bet would be to call and complain multiple times. Based off of what I am reading, different CSRs handle things differently. The first few people were not as considerate and told me things like "We cant do any more for you". I was complaining to this last agent for at least an hour and I think I broke her down. She would continually put me on hold to talk with her supervisor, so maybe you should just request to speak to a supervisor if the CSR cant do anything.

All I can say is that I hope they built the quick ship stockpile before they started failing to meet delivery promises on computers that had already been sold and paid for.

 

Pretty sure the quick ship has plenty of stock left, since its built with Altec Lansing speakers instead of Beats.

 

the HP specs page is wrong. Scroll to the bottom of the specs page and click on the specs pdf, those are the correct specs. it does come with beats audio and the 6770.

For those who have been following my last few posts, you know that my Quick Ship model will be here on Tuesday. Well this morning I got a shipment notification for my original order. So now I have 2 laptops heading my way

I'm going to ask HP if I can keep the 640GB 7200RPM drive from my original order instead of the 1TB from the Quick Ship.

I have to agree with this. It makes me question just how well designed the HP tracking systems are (I've built stuff like this in the past, it ain't' rocket science). I got off of a chat session and apparently they didn't know I had a new ship date, as they had my original one in the system and the rep kept apologizing for that, saying I should receive a mail yesterday with the new ship date. I just shook my head.

 

Ordered the 18th. Still waiting.

sooo.... my delayed estimated shipping date was april 16.... it is april 18 and i have not received a single email from hp. I chatted with them on the online chat thing and the guy there said my order shows on their system to still be in production. I then asked what the estimated shipping date was. I said give me two minutes and I'll check. HE came back and said that they had no estimated ship date...... WHAT THE F*CK..... Is there a possibility that my dv7 may have shipped but the system has not been updated?

 

I have the same delay date of 4/16 (original ship date of 4/12, ordered 3/28). I did an online chat and they told me I should get an email by 10pm tonight with the status (I assume it will be another delay email).

 

I also ordered on the 21st and have the EXACT delay dates that gscavezze did and have not recieved a shipping notice yet, just an fyi for everyone waiting.
