Maybe what you need is a 12-cell battery... LOL. I got one for the G4. >7 hours usable so far in testing. Around 9 hours on light use.

New Laptop Battery for HP Pavilion DV6-6000 10400mah 12 Cell

Note: Not 100% sure it's for all 6xxx DV6s, but thought I'd post it as reference.

When are those temps like that? During 3DMark11? I still can't figure out why my switchable graphics won't reset when I choose "reset to factory defaults". Stupid drivers.

Not sure how the 12 cell would be better than the 9-cell as far as being able to place it on a laptop cooler? Doesn't it have a bulge on it too? I can get 7hrs with the 9-cell as it is, probably 6hrs with high capacity 6-cell.

Not saying it would help the cooler, but getting an extra 25% battery life might be worth *not* having the cooler. Just a thought. ;)

there's something screwball here, I thought your 12 cell numbers seemed off, well, just looked again, and my 9cell is stamped:
    1. 11.1 volts
    2. 100 Wh

Plus, when its plugged in, the battery life app says its actually contains about twice what the std 6 cell has.

That is wierd man. Why is your battery stamped 11.1V? My 6 cell is stamped 10.8V. I guess these DV6s can run 10.8V and 11.1V batteries....

It is always so confusing to shop for batteries for these HP laptops, the model numbers can get rather tricky. I just hope the one I bought fits....

I know for a fact this one should fit : http://laptops-batteries.ca/hp/pavilion-dv6-6000-battery.htm

As my battery replacement number is 593554-001 and it is on the compatible list.

Mine says the same as Seer's, 11.1V/100Wh. And I really only "need" > 4 hours, 6 is desirable, anything on top of that is gravy. From my initial battery tests, I can easily get 7 hours with basic web browsing, probably end up being a lot more.

Do the math, I can get mine to run about 12W so 100Wh/12 = 8.3 hrs.

I set my power profile on battery so CPU doesn't exceed my 1400MHz P-state.

That is a bit strange, the standard voltage of a Lithium Ion battery cell is 3.6 volts. Three cells together would be 10.8 v so you parallel two sets of three cells to increase the battery life (6 cell battery), if you parallel 3 sets (9 cell battery) then you just increase battery life again but where do the extra .3 volts come from?

They are probably using 3.7V lithium ion cells instead of 3.6V . Those are quite common.

The strange thing in all this is that cooling and performance is all over the place from machine to machine. Seer's runs cool out of the box, some can crank GPU up to 800+, some GPU RAM well over 900MHz. While some get too hot at 2.2GHz, and others can run 2.8GHz without a problem.

Hello Everyone :D let me say that I'm a proud owner of the Hp Dv6-6110sg, A6 3410MX and 6750m.

By experimenting a lot I've found that my optimal values are always like this:

    2.9 GHz 1.2250
    2.6 GHz 1.1250
    2.3 - 1.0375
    1.8 - 0.9625

    (For the best overclocking ones)

And as for my 6750m adapter I've found that NO using the 0.5 more mod, but instead the firmware 2.0 with the restrictions removed for the wifi card works excellent, I can go as up as 1000 for memory and 780 for the core, however the results often don't stick and I don't know why.

If I use the firmware for the .5 volts more, it indeed works as shown by GPU-Z, however I can't sustain the same values as when I don't use that firmware (780 just crashes the computer)

I'm using the vanilla drivers of HP

AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver HP Pavilion dv6-6110us Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

I however have heard that some people here use the 11.6 drivers or 11.7... however I can't find a link to them, when I go to the mobility page of AMD they don't detect both of my graphics adapters and hence they only update the catalyst software and nothing more...

Somebody could be so kind t point me where to download those drivers? also I heard that If I request it... may I have a modded bios without the 0.5 volts and the frequencies of 780 for core and 1000 for memory?

    Thank you in Advance

Nice, thanks for the post that is some great info. + rep :)

However, are you sure those voltages are stable? I used to have those voltages for the clock values, but the 3Dmark11 physics test crashes with 2.6Ghz any less than 1.1625V. I would recommend doing a 3D11 physics benchmark and seeing if it passes.

Actually the values for the processor are very stable, I have been using them since perhaps a month, I however only use 2.9 Ghz and 2.6 Ghz with not too intensive but rather speed demanding applications, for example the DesMuMe emulator requires more raw speed than processing efficiency. Those values where tested with prime95 by around 20-35 minutes.

The temperature gets very high at 2.6 ghz, around 80 degrees but under extreme 4 core application execution, the sweet spot for me has been always 2.3 ghz, doesn't reaches temperatures higher than 76 degrees.

I actually want to correct my values for the GPU 6750m if somebody could mod a bios with no 0.5v addition and 950 for mem and 770 for Core will be greatly appreciated

3Dmark 11 physics test will crash on clocks stable in everything else , prime95 included. If it was any worse I would blame the program.

Just a heads up if you ever enter the benchmark race :)

Downloading, but seriously with my current settings I feel that is more than enough... I don't feel like racing against some A8 out there, not to mention some 6750m cards that can pass above 800 mhz :D

I actually fell more concerned about my temps...

    Says "System BIOS update failed"

Do I just run the InsydeFlash program?

    Also noticed there's an 01649 F20.bin and an 01649 S20.bin file.

@ HT Where did you buy your battery to have 100wh? I see some 9 cells that have 93Wh but the 12 cells do not give a value. I have not seen anything > 93Wh

K, thanks. So HP_Tools partition has gotta go! I think I will just image my SSD to a hard drive, use the hard drive and delete the HP_Tools partition off there, run the BIOS flash, then replace the SSD.

I bought mine configured at HP store online with the 9-cell.

Try the 11.6 driver or 11.8 with modded BIOS, you should get a higher result:

AMD Radeon HD 6520G video card benchmark result - AMD A6-3410MX APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics,Hewlett-Packard 358D score: P2049 3DMarks

    Try - Planet 3DNow! - Das Online-Magazin für den AMD-User for Mobility 11.6

@Musho: Does the Bios-VMOD already work? It would be very nice to get a modded BIOS with 800/950 Settings :)

Just tested it. Works like a charm! (I deleted HP_TOOLS using windows disk management lol)

Quick questions tho : 1. Is whitelist removed or intact
    2. Voltage is stock correct? (No bump)

    1. It's not removed. Could do that if you really want, but will take some extra time. Shouldn't be too hard, though.
    2. Yep, correct. Voltage is running at stock. My vmodded bios was reporting to run at 1.05v, but was actually running at 0.90v, hence the instability at the speeds you were previously able to run just fine.

Just ran a 3d11 with the 11.6 drivers instead of stock HP ones, and I cannot break 2200 now :( I think the stock HP ones were actually the fastest :O Going to try 11.8 now.

@Musho, thanks a ton, I do not really care about whitelist at the moment so no big deal. How about overclocking the 6620g tho? :p :p

Now that the stupid 12 cell battery is confirmed incompatible and returned (the battdepot one, it was for the older dv6z), I cannot decide between a 9-cell for $47, or a 12 cell (that I know will work this time) for $81...

BTW battdepot has freaking fast shipping. I ordered the battery yesterday and 6PM, and received it today at 12:30pm. Not even 24 hours from product to house!

LOL! I just renamed the HP_TOOLS partition to HP_TOOLS_ and it let me flash it. Just rename it back and you're good to go!

No need to delete it or anything. Stupid programming probably just runs an "If exist HP_TOOLS" and just checks for the name not if the partition actually exists through some hash check. lol.

GPU speeds confirmed. Thanks Musho +1. I may try a faster one later. I know I can meet 800/900, but would rather stay on the safe side with 780/880. If you get a free moment can you create one with those clocks that I can update later? thanks!

Vects Bios is also working for me, I get nearly the same results with CF enabled and 11.8-Driver @2,7Ghz.

The CPU and GPU-Temps are much lower with the new BIOS, in Rift I get 77°C, with the old BIOS and OC over Afterburner the temps were around 82-86°C.

Make sure you completely delete any traces from your old drivers using this tool: Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

I would be _very_ surprised if my bios mod caused lower fps/scores, since literally the only thing I did was change the clock speed values with an hex editor, and fix the checksum by changing some filler bytes.

Anyway, good luck! Hopefully messing with the drivers will fix it. Don't forget to try Seer's trick of resetting back to factory defaults in CCC.

@vect I have the same computer as you vect and the voltages you posted were identical to mine and were stable with intel burn test but when I ran the 3d11 phys test mine were not stable I had to bump each one up by .0125v.

Vect I was also wonder what your temps were when you only stressed the cpu? thanks

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean? I was talking about the bios which had the wifi whitelist disabled. Reports said it was working, right? I was going to mod that bios with the higher GPU clocks, if you want.

I can assure you that that bios, the kr105_sp54025_NWL_ByCamiloml.exe worked like a charm, in fact it was the one that I was using prior bios overclock, testing the overclock by using MSI afterburner.
