Hi there, I received my DV6-6135 one week ago and have been trying to tweak/OC it to get the most power.
So far, I have installed the latest catalyst (11.10 prev3):

-installed k10stat, running at [email protected]

-tried to OC the 6750 with msi afterburner but from what I have read it is impossible to OC with the latest catalyst driver without a special BIOS, right?

Do you guys have any other hint/tips that I missed in that big thread?

So far I am pretty happy with that 570$ machine, had 30 fps on BF3 in mp this morning ( well it is hard to play with the laggy servers but it is promising)

For overclocking the GPU you have 2 options : Use MSI afterburner and an older 11.6 Catalyst Driver.. or use a Musho BIOS with built in OC and the new gpu drivers.... what I recommend is :

    1. Install 11.6a drivers and MSI afterburner
    2. Find best stable GPU overclock
    3. Once you find your max OC, find whichever one of Musho's bios is closest to that. Flash that BIOS. (we have quite a few variant from 750/900 to 800/1000)
    4. Update to latest 11.10 drivers and install catalyst profiles.
    5. See a nice FPS increase.

@ someone with DV6t , we should do some exact setting-for-setting location-for-location (game-wise) benchmark comparisons. I want to see exactly how things stack up.

I cannot wait till we can have a voltage increase on the 6750m.... Mine is running pretty damn cool (idles at 42 degrees, full load is 70) so I have no doubt I could get some more juice out of it.

Of course not, but if gaming experience is close, then I'm happy. After all I only paid half of what he paid, and SC2 is probably not a good example because it's so CPU-intensive. It's also interesting to note that the NBR review about the new G53 indicated that the newer GTX560M is actually slower than the older GTX460M.

I read a lot of microstuttering in CF, I've personally experienced that on my desktop's dual 4850 setup, so I probably not going to use CF at all. In that case I will just disable CF in VCC, and let the system switch between 6620 and 6750.

Since you also have the 6135, I assume we have the same A8-3500M + 6750 setup, do you mind sharing your k10stat profile? I'd like to know what to expect before starting my own OC. Thanks

Really? Here's 3DMark06 for an HP DV6z-6135 wtih an A8-3500 CPU: Note that the overclocking of the A8-3500 is pretty much the lowest standard known to work on A6 or A8 CPUs across the board, not something extreme

    3dMark06 - AMD A8 overclocked

    CPU score: 3198

Notebook Check review core i7 620M

    CPU Score: 2739 to 3200

The core i7 still wins on floating point for super pi, and a few other things. but overall it's a close race with 1st gen core i7 and AMD A8 3500 with overclocking.

I got this one from some other post. Works like a champ.

R3, don't know about SC2 or BF3, but I don't have any noticeable stutter in the games I'm playing, which are pretty much DukeNukem, Call of Duty black ops, Crysis 2, Dragon Age Origins, and of course Rift.

Remember, I'm using the unofficially released (Officially UNreleased 1.8a bios, and the 11.6a drivers, running k10stat with the top 3 pstates being 3k, 2867, 2667 in that order, with Fusion Tweaker's special straight to 3k 'boost' setting laid over the top. I also clock the 6750 at 792/840. top temps in the games run around 77C with my customized coolmaster, idle around 33/36 igpu/6750 temps. When I dial up the thermaltake adjustable fan that I added to the two existing Coolmaster fans (the thermal blows right into apu area, the temps come down to 30/31, course you need to switch to headphones :) Ambient is about 77 F as I type this.

I c reports all over the web as to what alienware r2's and r3's are getting in Rift, now these are sli boxes with some serious hardware..way stronger than what the G53 carries, .and they are generally reporting 30 to 40 fps on Hi settings with AA turned down abit. well, with the settings I just described I avg around 38 to 40fps, with bursts into the high 40's when I'm fighting something solo away from the crowd, AND,
I'm running "Ultra" settings with only the AA, and something else I never can remember turned down a bit. Frankly, if its stuttering, I don't notice it. Only place I've really ever seen stuttering was when we were pushing to the limits to see how high we could push the 3dmark11 scores. There, it was pretty evident, but as for actual gaming...for me it hasn't been a problem. Maybe these 'old' eyes are just too slow to notice :) heheh

    Seer

edit: seems like about once or twice a week I scan the web looking for a laptop I like better....still looking..... :) I swear if this thing had a backlit keyboard, it would be just about perfect. On the other hand, having to remember all the keys in the 'gloom' I like for gaming, is improving my touch typing skills markedly LOL.

2nd Edit, You know R3, I've been wondering what would happen if we locked down two of the llano's cpu cores, pushed the other two way up, and tested to see if the amd allocation logic would push more resources to the igpu since it would think that since only 2 cores were busy, it could unleash the igpu to run maxxed out. As I recall the logic isn't based on any actually temp measurements, but rather is a calculation based on activity. I have seen much better results running 'unganged' on the cores , I think for that same reason. Now if you were running something entirely on the 6750, you might want to do the opposite, gang all the apu cores to stick with whichever core was doing the most work at the time, as you would then minimize resources needed by the igpu and thus maximize those available to the cpu side. When I get some time, I just might try that.

Just a quick question for anyone playing BF3, what temps are you guys getting while running that or really any other newish game. I've had problems of my laptop shutting down for about 10 seconds then turning back on because what I assume is a overheating issue. Temps get to 178* F then the laptop shuts down on me.

Is there a list (if not can someone list them) of games that run will run excellent in crossfire on the A8 with and 6750M.

That's about 80C which isn't too hot. 90C is where you might start to have issues. I run about 72C for CPU and GPU in BF3 then again I have a cooling mod.

The list is short. Deus Ex Human Revolution is supposed to run pretty good with it. BF3 beta ran great with it, but the just released retail version doesn't do too well. Otherwise I have just stuck with stock 6750m overclocked.

Got my machine yesterday and created recovery media, I will put in a SSD today and do a fresh install. I got the Ralink wifi adapter and its speed and range are both excellent, but I want to upgrade in the future to one with integrated BT. I saw a list of wifi cards on the Service and Maintenance Manual, are those considered "HP Sanctioned" cards?

On a second note how can we ask for this thread to be sticky?

BTW I was reading reviews on Newegg and there is a poor fellow who didn't know the latch to open the back panel thus cracked his.......

Just got mine and figured I should pop in to greet the wizards.

The crazy-cheap NewEgg refurb is looking good. Need to mind my Ps and Qs and Celcius, but seems promising out of the box. I thought I should mention a couple things that I didn't previously see in this thread:

    1) It's damned important to grab the DirectX rollup package. I jut used this: Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - DirectX End-User Runtime It solved some driver error messages I'd been getting.

    2) For games with launchers and external graphics setup tools, you should add the launchers to the High Performance list (so they don't see a 6620G and underestimate your capabilities). For example Fallout3 and Fallout: New Vegas changed their automatic settings from "Medium" to "High" all by themselves (just click Default and it will re-detect your hardware). After messing with the clocks I'll see if either defaults to Ultra.

    3) The AMD System Monitor actually provides a couple of interesting numbers, with some caveats. Mainly it seems the log recorder is broken, I should look into that (still running factory everything). However the Monitor does show utilization for the two separate GPUs, it shows color-coded combined usage of the CPU cores, it SHOWS THE CONFLICT LEVEL between CPU and GPU dominating resources, and it shows a halfway decent memory breakdown. Unfortunately, NO TEMPS VISIBLE, which is a sin against all living things....

I am thinking that for a "heavy" game like Starcraft II, it would make sense to only use High Performance (6750) so the CPU doesn't have to fight when it's trying to use Boost. A little graphic performance lost, but no conflicts on TDP or local IO.

I think you need the two sticks of RAM because the system memory controller wants to reserve the first 256MB of EACH STICK for the 6620G, at a VERY low level, to guarantee dual-channel bandwidth and leveled memory distribution.

Concerning OpenGL, here's a thought for the brave: IF you were to go into Device Manager and uninstall drivers for the 6620G, or even disable it, then wouldn't Catalyst have NO choice but to use the 6750 for OpenGL?

Lots of profiling remains at this point, but the laptop appears to be a real Swiss Army Knife. Just fiddle with a couple dials and it will COMPLETELY transform to suit a different role.

Alright I got a fresh Win 7 install, did a modest OC on the APU and will run stability test overnight see if anything happens. So far my DV6-6135DX's score (no OC, stock RAM, added SSD), is 6.6, 7.3, 6.5, 6.5, 7.3. If CF is enabled both graphics scores will drop by 0.1.

With a P0 2.4Ghz w/ 2.8Ghz boost OC my CPU score is 7.0. With OC I have to disable CF otherwise the windows assessment tool will crash. At that setting the Super PI score is 29.2s which is a lot slower than I thought. I've been watching CPU-Z during those test and the APU almost never boost to 2.8Ghz, during Win 7's CPU test and Super PI the APU actually only reached 100% for a few seconds, I had AMD system monitor open and during that period the GPU portion was fairly inactive too. Can anybody explain what could be the cause? It almost made me feel that I got a lazy sack of a APU. My APU temp during those runs never exceeded 66C, I cannot monitor the temperature of 6750 using Hardware Monitor, maybe I'll download Afterburner and see if that one works. It's strange that AMD system monitor doesn't read temperature.

Considering how buggy CF is at the moment, and the relatively small gain it provides, I probably will just leave it off and let the system switch between 6620 and 6750.

I wouldn't bother with turbo boost, it appears to do very little if any turbo time at all. I feel a bit ripped out the way the turbo clock speed is promoted before the sale.
I have both HP DV6 Intel and AMD, the Intel turbo works very well, the AMD turbo just sucks. Anyway forgot turbo boost with AMD and run the 2.4GHz you have now, maybe push it to 2.5-2.6 GHz to keep your voltage and temps down.

You are right, this is expected, the speed seems to be okay even at stock frequency, I'd be happy if I can make it stable at around 2.0Ghz. At stock frequency with CF disabled, my 3DMark11 score is 1230, ouch! :D

Hope you made your recovery disks before fresh install. Then instead of a clean install you will probably have better luck using system restore and do a "minimal restore" or whatever it's called and it will install Windows with the HP apps and no bloatware.

Also, make sure to download 11.10 preview 3 drivers: AMD Catalyst? 11.10 Version 3 Preview Driver

    and 11.9 CAP 4 profiles: Rage3D

When overclocking make sure you reduce voltages, it will make your system run so much cooler and add battery life too. Ignore the stupid WEI scores too, you'll be chasing nothing if you do that.

There's no reason your machines can't reach 2.2GHz. I was a bit disappointed with the turbo speed at first, but when I realized I can actually FIX my speed at near turbo speed it didn't matter. I'd rather have that than turbo. Running 2.4GHz here with A8-3510MX.

Well, I've been a busy beaver overclocking my dv6-6135 these last two days, and I now have stable 2.8GHz non turbo. Turbo is set to 2.8GHz as well so effectively I have no turbo. Max temps for CPU only intensive apps is 93C with 1.1750 volts. I'm gonna try lowering the voltage and see if it still runs table. I got an almost immediate blue screen with 2.8GHz and 1.0750 core voltage, so I'm hoping between 1.0750 and 1.1750 I can get stable overclocking at < 90C.

I'll probably drop it to 2.6GHz or so for gaming since the GPU and CPU share a heat pipe and I want to keep the temps at or below 90C while gaming.

Update: So I dropped my core voltage to 1.1375 and the max temp at 2.8 is now 89C. Any lower and I get a blue screen.

Update part deux: Ran 3DMark06 and got a bluescreen, upped the voltage to 1.1750 and now that runs stable. Max CPU temp while running 3DMark06 was 88C. With stock clocks I get 7100 3DMarks, with the 2.8GHz OC and stock GPU clocks I get 9299

I have also been overclocking the crap out of my dv6-6135dx. Voltage wise, I hit the wall at 2.4GHz @ 1.0875V. Any faster and the voltage increase gets out of control fast. I'm currently redoing the Pstates to this and putting the voltage as low as I can:

    P0 - 2400
    P1 - 2200
    P2 - 2000
    P3 - 1700
    P4 - 1400
    P5 - 1100
    P6 - 800

So far I am very impressed with this chip. I did not expect an easy 900MHz overclock with only a 0.375V increase. AMD really should forget about turbo and push clocks much higher for a more competitive product.

I think it's a good idea to set B0 and P0 the same, I don't want to push the system too hard since I'm rather happy with the CPU speed. I will try to find a stable 2.4Ghz OC with voltage below 1.15v tonight. Right now my biggest issue is the buggy CF, with that enabled I can't finish 3DMark11 without crashes, that's without any OC.

HT, I didn't a fresh install so I have a better start with a new SSD, I made recovery discs before and downloaded all HP drivers/tools. Win 7 install from a flash drive took me about 10 minutes to finish, OTOH it didn't really install anything, not even the card reader driver! :O I also used ABR to save my OEM activation.

I have my A8-3500m set at 2.4 ghz. Any more than that doesn't really seem to bring much in performance vs the heat generated. At least that's in my view, might be different for you guys.

Also I'm axing the plan to buy the Momentus XT for now, due to the floods. But i'm going to go for more RAM in a week or two.

^^^ That's what I figured out. The point of diminishing returns lies somewhere between 2.4 and 2.6GHz for the A8-3500M. The occasional chip might do better, but probably not too much.

In other news, testing voltages for my new Pstates is working great. By matching the stock V/Mhz I seem to have achieved a good set of voltages, even a decent undervolt at 800MHz. Just waiting on one last run from OCCT.

I'm also having a hard time figuring out what exactly the DID setting in K10Stat controls, aside from allowing higher multipliers.

I guess I'm not as lucky, my 3500m won't stabilize at 2.4Ghz unless the voltage is cranked up all the way to 1.125v. That's the lowest stable voltage tested on Prime95 (core 3 always craps out first), it passes Intelburn at 1.0875v though. At 1.125v a hour long Prime95 run heated the APU to 72C when using a cooling pad. Don't know why the different results from Intelburn and Prime95, I tend to trust the latter more.
What's the lowest voltage you guys got for 800mhz?

Edit: Ran 3DMark11 with 2.4Ghz OC, stock 6750, Catalyst 11.10 preview, and Rage CAP, score is 1788. It seems to be a lot lower than some of your who got over 2000. My 3DMark06 score is 9447.

Different stress tests stress different parts of the CPU more. Easiest way to tell is to monitor temperatures. The hotter it runs the more stressed the CPU is.

At 800MHz, I'm running 0.8875V because that's what my math said it should be stable at.

Also, the DID setting has something to do with the NB speed. Higher (lower) settings likely yield better memory bandwidth.

To be honest, 1.125V is about normal, and 72C even with cooling pad at 2.4GHz is a great result! Many people are running 80C+. If you truly want to stress your machine, run Prime95 and MSI Kombustor simultaneously. Just make sure to turn off crossfire and set Kombustor to run directX 9, 10, or 11, it defaults to OpenGL which will use the integrated GPU and that's not what you want to do.

I did a fresh install on SSD and ended up having issues and couldn't get things working just right. So used the recovery DVD's for a "minimal recovery" and that worked great.

Overall I'm pretty disappointed with the crossfire. The main games I play were Bad Company 2 and now Battlefield 3. Bad Company 2 was atrocious with crossfire no matter what but the game actually played well at 1080p at med/low with just the 6750m overclocked. Even in Battlefield 3, Crossfire with the latest 11.10 preview 3 drivers and CAP 4 has good framerates (35-40) at 1080p, but it still doesn't seem as smooth as just running with the 6750m even though I only get 25-35 fps. In some respects I kind of wish I had gone with the DV6t Quad because of that. I saved about $250-$300 over it, but the i7-2630qm is a much faster CPU with no fussing and the 6770m is about equal to the 6750m in crossfire, if not a little better, with none of the issues of crossfire.

Oh I see, that makes sense.

I will definitely give that a try, I normally consider a 4 hour Prime95 run adequate.

With my APU OC I can play Shift surprisingly well using CF, disabling it seems to yielded better results with SC2. I think the new Rage CAP did help with with CF stability, I have not yet experienced any crashes since the update.

If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it. I have been searching but haven't found a solution to this problem. I'm running a DV6-6135.

MSI Afterburner doesn't seem to see my 6750m card. It shows "6600/6700 Series GPU" and then the iGPU separately. The 6600/6700 card shows as running at 600MHz base clock and 800MHz memory, but that is the max of the slider, and I cannot change it manually. I've run high performance apps first, and also set afterburner to high performance in the switchable graphics settings.

Crossfire is a mixed bag for me, Crysis 1 and Warhead seem to like it as I get a decent boost to average frames with it on. Bad Company 2 I don't seem to gain any ill effects, but not much benefit either vs the increased heat. And STALKER Call of Pripyat gives me horrible stuttering with CF on, plays fine with just the 6750m.

MSI Afterburner is a pain the butt to configure. To be able to use it, go to the directory where it lives, in my case that's C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner. Change the perms on the MSIAfterburner.cfg file so you own it and can edit it. Edit it with notepad and set these two lines in it:

    Code:
UnofficialOverclockingEULA	= I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
    UnofficialOverclockingMode	= 1
Save the file, now you should be able to overclock. Note that while my A8-3400 is VERY overclockable, my 6750 is not. Even going to 625 core or 825 memory results in instability.

That worked beautifully thanks. I'm getting blue screen crashes with any increase though. I thought it might be due to not setting the graphics to fixed mode in the BIOS, however after updating to the F.21 BIOS I cannot find any option for dynamic/fixed? Is it a 3rd party BIOS mod or something?

The "6600/6700 Series GPU" *IS* your 6750m. But make sure you go to settings, and the first page at top you can choose your GPU. To go higher than 800MHz, set the slider to 800MHz, apply, then go back into settings, set it to the 6620G (if there's two, choose either), click OK, then go right back into settings, and set it back to 6600/6700 series GPU, then OK. Now you can set it higher than 800MHz.

Setting up Notepad++ executable to "Administrator" compatibility. Hoping that will solve the facepalming that happens when it silently fails to save because of that blasted UAC lockdown.

In truth, UAC isn't a very good defense anymore but it at least blocks a lot of the less sophisticated exploits.

On a separate note, seems that 7zip actually performs BETTER with 8 threads rather than 4 on this A8 CPU. Would imagine a super duper i7-quad with hyperthreading + extra crap should do even better on 8 threads, but it was fascinating to see utilization jump from 320-330% to ~395-397%. If this bore out in real-life application, that would be an extra 20% output. Such was represented in the average compression speed, so it wasn't just wasting cycles on coherency. Of course the extraction speed was bottlenecking at 70MB/sec at practically every thread count...

I just tried to install Ubuntu 11.10 via Wubi and there is no video, when the computer reboots I can choose Ubuntu from the boot manager, then the screen will turn purple for a few seconds then turn off, I can hear the boot music in the background, but nothing on the LCD. Is there a known driver issue with the latest Ubuntu release?
Nevermind just saw on Ubuntu forum someone else also reported 11.10 video not working with APU powered DV6Z. Just got back to 11.04 and then upgraded to 11.10 and everything works like a champ!

Thanks. Also: Wubi actually worked for someone? Every PC I ever tried the "risk-free install" on, had to be recovered.

    A6 3410MX Reporting in!
Report of my current results with this processor and CrossFire 6750m:

    Table for K10STAT:
    freq FID DID V
    3100 15 0 1.2500 <- Boost on High Setting
    2900 13 0 1.2250
    2600 23 1 1.1250 <- Boost on Low Setting
    2300 30 2 1.0375
    2200 28 2 1
    1800 20 2 0.9625
    1600 16 2 0.9125
    1400 26 3 0.8625 <- Lowest freq for High Setting
    1300 23 3 0.8125
    1200 20 3 0.7500
    800 16 4 0.6750 <- Lowest freq for Low Setting

could be less voltage for the frequencies but for some reason core 3 always gives error on prime 95.

everything above 2.2 can reach easily more than 80 degrees, although voltages and frequencies may seem extreme, the truth is that the processor is quite smart about the temps. Once it reaches the 89 °C barrier it begins to turn idle cycles to lower the temp, down to 72 °C normally.

    Current 6750m config:
Bios Modded by Musho, core 770 mem 950.

    Best driver configuration:
    CAP4 with Catalyst 11.10 Preview 3

    List of games tested:

-Racedriver GRID, everything on high and 1080p HDMI = perfectly playable
-Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, settings same as above = perfectly playable
-Crysis 1, settings same as above but res 1366x768, direct x10 = 20-28 FPs, tested with 11.8 and no CAPS
-Crysis 2, direct x9 and everything on medium, 1366x768 = perfectly playable, tested with default HP drivers.
-Deus Ex: Human Revolution, FXAA HIGH/no field of vision/bilinear/testellation on/shadows normal/post processing off =stuttering only solved with CAPS/perfectly playable after that.
-Battlefield 3, everything on low except resolution 1366x768 =perfectly playable and game still looks awesome, 1080p for some reason looses a lot of FPs but seems rather to be a driver problem than graphics power.

Laptop Hp Dv6 6110sg, a bargain for games indeed.

Note: I use the processor's low setting for games like the ones above, it's just good enough for them and gets no stuttering. High setting is only for task like decompressing with winrar or stuff like that or for emulators like DeSmume, nintendo DS emulation is pretty smooth like that and if it doesn't with frameskip 1 it becomes perfect. Also I'm pretty sure that I can lower some temps with a better thermal paste, but I will apply that later.

I can run BF3 on low at 1080p with 25-40fps. Average about 30fps outdoors, 35fps indoors without Crossfire.

    I use 11.10 preview 3 drivers.

For crossfire I use the new CAP 4 profiles, and it actually runs rather smooth.

And I would dial down your CPU frequencies a bit, because you're probably not doing yourself any favors because it WILL start throttling even before 89C. It won't be so apparent in non CPU intensive games, but CPU intensive games it will cause some stuttering.

I have used it on all of my PCs and has been trouble free until the two most recent attempts on my x120e and the DV6z. The Thinkpad's SATA controller is not supported so it's a no go, the DV6z only had problem with the latest Ubuntu 11.10. 11.04 is absolutely trouble free.

I initially installed Wubi with 11.10 on it, and upon reboot no video so I had to restart and boot into Windows. From there I uninstalled Wubi with Ubuntu from the control panel and back to square one. Then I installed Wubi with Ubuntu 11.04 (make sure you use the 11.04 version of Wubi). Boot into it, applied all the updates, installed the ATI driver. Then upgraded to 11.10 from inside Ubuntu. Everything works perfectly now.

Actually the high setting is only for emulators like Desmume, in those the temps never reach more than 87 degress, actually at 2.6 GHz the temps goes around 80 degrees, so I lock that frequency for emulators normally. For games I use the low setting but other than that the high setting works wonders.

Speaking of emulation has anyone tested Dolphin on one of these monsters? The i7 snobs in their forum believe anything AMD can't even touch that software. (Wii emulation)

Good to hear someone isn't having their Windows bricked (kee-rash!) by the Wubi loader. In one case a repair install fixed the issue, usually Last Good Config was enough. Still irritating.

I noticed a couple folks mentioning they didn't like the optical drive release button; it works reliably for me. You need to hold the switch for about two seconds, I suppose this is a guard against accidental ejection.

It's quite amazing how many games run smooth and look good with just the Power Saver (IGP) profile. A few days in and the value keeps looking better. May eventually get one of those oversized batteries - HP the way to go or is the SAME part available cheaper somewhere else? (no chinese fairydust batteries please, they seem to lose capacity VERY fast)

I haven't found actual HP batteries anywhere else or cheaper unfortunately.

But yeah, the IGP is actually quite impressive.

Edit: Just did a run of BF3 using IGP only! 1024x600, all low (well some medium, textures and such) and it ran at an admirable 25-40 fps. Turned on PostAA to low and that helped clean things up a bit without any affect on FPS. Pretty incredible.

alright, so I received my laptop a few days ago, and loving it! just wanted to ask though, what are considered some solid temperatures for the laptop on idle, during load, things like that.

In case anyone is still looking for compatible memory, I'm running a 2x4GB kit of Kingston PnP DDR3-1600 CL9 in a ProBook 6465b with an A6-3410mx in it, and it works great. Look for KHX1600C9S3P1K2/8G.

I just have tested both dolphin and pcsx2 and the results are quite interesting. with speeds of 2.9 GHz you can actually have very nice speeds, in pcsx2 the speeds for games like Gradius and Star ocean until the end of time, after some tweaking, can reach up to 60 frames/s, the temps are nice here too, with unganged control in K10STAT you get around 80 degrees temp in the processor (A6 3410MX here) Zone of Enders 2 though, only runs at half of the speed no matter what I tried.

As for gamecube, after some tweaking I got smash brothers up to 60 fps, with frameskip 1 (unnoticeable) with 4 players in the hyrulean castle, however in kirby stage it really goes slow (i tested that one without frameskip though). Fzero GX is one very heavy game and I cannot make it to run properly, max I got is 60% speed. this is only limitted by the speed of the processor, since I have no mod, I cannot go further... However I do really want to make a mod now, time to get some tools.

Does anyone know whether the latest F.21 BIOS still whitelist wifi adapters? If not then I guess I can get one of the HP sanctioned adapter (listed in its maintenance manual) that has integrated Bluetooth.

my AMD 3530mx with the deticated 6750m crossfired with the APU gets around 40-60fps at 720P res on medium settings.

But in saying that it gets super hot >> 90-95c after a few hours on it.

You really need a cooling pad, you don't want to experience the whole HP/nVidia overheating fiasco again.

This is actually in the processor, unless the base desolders itself like the BGAs that you mentioned before, then there is a problem, the GPU however runs very cool for most of us... Still, I atleast recommend to elevate a few centimeters the laptop, it improves cooling by like 1-1.5 °C
