Yeah those are really high temps. Are you using any cooler? Also try to clean the vents and the fans.

Make sure the desk is not cluttered and free of dust and unnecessary brick bats. You may also like to upgrade to the latest BIOS from the HP website which might make the fans to rotate faster.

Use a can of compressed air. They are generally sold in stores dealing in computer accessories. But before doing that switch off your PC and also remove the battery.

87C at idle? That is very hot indeed. Maybe the thermal pad is not seated properly or something. Try to use compressed air and report back. Otherwise give HP Support a call.

@ Pranalien, no that is after playing Sid Meier's railroad... but like 2 - 3 months ago it only went to 60 or something. i did spill one time coca-cola on the laptop. but i brought it to the ICT - dude from my dad's office. he said everything was fine... maybe something broke???

So you mean those overheating problems started right after you spilled Coke in your laptop, right? If that is the problem, then you can get it tested by a certified HP technician. Its only 6 months and they will replace the parts for free if they are convinced enough that you didn't mess with the laptop. However if you have the accidental damage warranty, then you don't need to worry.

Spilling liquids on to your computer doesn't necessarily affect your PC immediately. In most of the cases, it is the circuit board which is affected or the fans.

I meant the default 1 year warranty that comes with every HP consumer laptop.

Don't mail them its worthless. Sometimes they will take up in a week's time just to respond. Try calling them.
