Ok, I have a HP dv7-1245dx laptop that powers up (yeah if you guys have been following my posts since joining here, I have a bunch of laptops and parts lol with no personal bootable laptop right now) and the fan and lights come up, the fan shuts off two seconds later. No output to the built-in monitor (I am about to check for external monitor output). No POST beep, and no flashing lights or any indications that anything is wrong except the CPU fan stops and no video of course. I was given the laptop a couple of weeks ago because the user said that the computer 'stopped working'. I would like to revive it, if I can. Where to start with this one? I have no personal experience with this particular model.

CORRECTION: Light above Number pad does flash, as does light by left Caps Lock key.

Sounds like your experiences the dread dead GPU that goes bad...and either you have to have the GPU reflowed or buy another motherboard that has the GPU fixed with a new chipset that fixes the GPU problem. Or if under warranty you will have to contact HP to fix it.
