~This Bios update is for the DV8000T only~

After waiting for this update I finally have it, This bios update is suppose to support Intels new Merom chip within the dv8000t setup. If you can get to the CPU like I did to change it out than this is all you need to run the Merom chip on your Laptop.

    Bios Chip Version: F0.15
    Model support: dv8000t CTO
    Download: July 6th 2006 Bios Update F0.15

I am half way through my guide on how to get to the CPU with full color images :) and even video clips... so if you want to wait stay tuned :)

~This Bios update is for the DV8000T only~

Unfortunately, if I upgrade bios's, I lose the overclock on my video card :-/ Can't afford a new processor anyhow.. and my t2400 doesn't struggle with anything anyhow.

Lol, you are able to set the OC on your GPU again... pretty easy :) also this bios isn't just a Merom Upgrade, its a full bios update. Its pretty easy and fast to do.

    Hi Sledgehammer,

I tried running the bios update and I noticed that I already had the bios that you've linked to. I would guess that HP has already begun shipping the last dv8000t's with the new bios update. I ordered mine on July 21st and received it on August 1.

    Thanks!

Would this bios update work for the UK versions of this machine? I think they should be the same. The top end model over here is a DV8396ea. I have found the following bios on the UK HP site, is it the same one?

    Release Date: 2006-07-03 Version: F.15 A

    Fixes

    1. Fix the garbage appearance before HP Logo on the system using NVidia Graphics.
    2. Fix the string is mis-displayed the primary Hard Disk when running hard disk self test on the secondary hard drive.
    3. Fix system shutdown after two minutes if the bad battery pack is installed.

    Enhancements

    1. Add CMO panel support.
    2. Update processor Micro Code to support D0 stepping processor.
    3. Disable toggle display in extended mode (direct 3D full screen) on intel VGA unit.
    4. Implement the BIOS workaround for Intel's ICH7M and ICH7M-DH UHCI Dynamic Clocking Gating Erratum to enhance system unstability.

Sledgehammer, I know you are still working on your guide to replacing the CPU, but do you think this is a process that is realistic for the 'average' user?

I really like this notebook, it fits my needs better than anything else out there but the lack of merom CPU (future 64bit vista capability) is holding me back. i would love to be able to get this machine and upgrade it (if I could get hold of a CPU!)
