I am looking for an expansion base to give me a DVI output on my 8408us. I simply cannot stand the VGA output on my Acer 20.1" LCD. Could anyone tell me what I need?

Umm.. neither of those give a DVI signal. As far as I know, you're limited to VGA output. The only HP consumer-class notebook that I know has a DVI compatible port is the dv9000t through a HDMI port. Sorry, I don't think you can get DVI on your dv8000.

I hope you are mistaken. This seemed like the perfect notebook when I purchased it, however I am really starting to detest it due to the lack of DVI. I was under the impression that the whole purpose of the expansion port on these models was to enable extra display options.

Yeah, sorry, but I guess that doesn't include DVI.
