    Hi all,

I'm trying to recover an HP dv9000 series notebook. However, the System Recovery function does not work (press F11 at boot) although the system restore drive is there and in tact. I also cannot boot to an OS Disk like Vista or XP, so even if I had a recovery disk it wouldn't help. The only thing I can do is boot into Safe Mode. I can't get into windows anymore at all. Has anybody had this problem before??

    Thanks,

    Kevin

EDIT: After a forum search, I have found one alternative to try: Go to start, right click on computer, click manage. Then in the window that

pops up, double click storage, then disc management. Then right click on your recovery

partition and click mark partition as active. Then try restarting. Normally, it should

boot straight into the recovery partition.

If anybody knows any other possibilities I would appreciate it. This seems a viable option since I did just do a clean install of Windows Vista. The problem was that the sound didn't work, and then things went downhill from there.

Kudos to the gentleman who offered that suggestion. Marking the partition as active worked. The computer booted right into recovery, without pressing F11. Luckily, I could do this in Safe Mode, as regular mode was unbootable for me!
