Whenever I boot up my laptop the LEDs all light up as normal, and it sounds as though everything is booting up, but the monitor is completely blank. After about ten seconds the LEDs turn off for a second, and then back on, and it sounds like the computer is starting up again.
Can anyone help me out?
-
Now that I check again, it doesn't seem as though any fans are spinning when I attempt to boot it up.
-
How this happened? Did you replace something prior to this condition?
-
I was simply browsing the internet and my screen went blank. So I manually turned it off, and when trying to turn it back on I experience the symptoms in my first post.
-
Take out the battery pack, AC power and any external devices plugged in
Hold the power button for 30 seconds
Try starting up again.
If that doesnt work, try using an external monitor to boot up.\\
Whats the specs of your notebook? -
Have you tried taking out the battery & unplugging the cord and holding down the power button 10 second and then 20 if still no response?
-
Just tried that with no luck. It is an AMD dual-core with nVidia Go.

Check if your notebook is on this defective list
-
It is on that list. However my warranty is expired.
-
You should still contact HP and they just might give you a new notebook. -
Ok, now it does.
I have some very important data on my drive, is there some sort of adapter to connect my dv9000's hard drive to another computer for a quick backup before I send it to HP? -
One last question. Does running any other operating systems other than the one that came with the laptop affect my warranty in any way?
-
My Go7200 died out on me within 5 months. This is actually Nvidia's fault for making defective cards.
-
Thanks for the help. I called up HP and they are going to fix it for me. Now I'll just have to deal with not having my computer for a month or 2.
-
They usually say they will have it back in 10 days; when I sent in my defective ZD7000 (same kind of issue, GPU died and took down the MB), the original estimate for return was 10 days; they kept pushing back the date (parts shortage, you know). When they had it for 3 weeks, I called up, got a case manager and b****ed and moaned about not having the PC for work, etc. and they replaced with the DV9700 I now have. -
Should only be gone for 2-3 weeks max -
I am having the same problem with my dv9000t: The screen just went blank completely and it seems as if it is booting normally, just without any display. Also, my left hinge is broken and i was going to contact HP for that anyway, but before I could backup my disks, the screen went off. :-(
Would like to know more about your experience with HP repair. -
How did you fixed it? I have these same problem.
