I'd appreciate any assistance with this annoying problem. No matter what I do I can't get Windows to recognize the webcam. It does not show up in device manager nor is there an option to turn it on via Quickplay or any other program. I've reinstalled the operating system and I still cannot get it to run.

I can get the Webcam software to install though. The icon shows up in the tray but when I click on the "on" option nothing happens. When I click on it again it just goes back to the "off" setting.

I'm running Windows XP MCE instead of WinVista. I've downloaded the drivers from the HP website for the dv9000cto series of laptops. I just got this laptop a couple of days ago and its already frustrating me! Other than this problem it's way better than my old Dell 8600.

    Thanks

I use the pre-installed Vista along with Yahoo IM to access the webcam and it works fine. I have not yet try it in XP, because I could not get the XP to install on dv9207, the XP installation keep saying could not find the hard drive. :-(

I think you should contact HP for help replacement. I once was frustrated by the integrated microphone and got it exchanged, no problem until now.

To install XP on your laptop, you have two choices:
    1. Disable the SATA native in BIOS
    2. Slip Stream the SATA driver into XP installation disc using nLite (I would prefer this method). You can get the driver in SWsetup\HDD folder if you back it up. If not, look for one in intel website.

You need to install the CAM driver from the Vista installation. There is a folder c:\sw... (I don't remember the exact folder name) if your Vista is installed on C drive. After installing this driver your CAM should work!

Hmm I can't find the folder on my disc. I burned the entire SW? folder to a dvd before I installed WinXP but its not there. Is there a model name for the camera so that I can look up some info?? Or does anyone have a link to the drivers? I tried almost every driver both WinXP and WinVista from the HP site and nada.

I'll keep trying for a little while longer then call HP support I suppose.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
