I dunno if it's the webcam problem (driver or something) or yahoo messenger itself. But when you cycle between turning on and off the webcam via yahoo messenger, after the 2nd cycle you will get an error that says the "webcam is not connected." True enough when you go to quickplay to try to take images it does not launch the camera. I think there is a problem with the HP webcam software driver. Is anybody experiencing this? I already downloaded the software from HP and it still did not fix the issue. Does anybody know the name of the service that runs for the webcam? Thanks!

Don't know, but i suggest you go hp.com, find customer support, and use the online chat service to talk to an online hp technician. They're pretty good about fixing issues. Either that or just call them.

I bet your running Windows Live Messenger on booting up Vista. I had the same problem as you with the webcam. I found the problem was caused by Windows Live Messenger. When I disabled it from the startup sequence and stopped using that program, then the webcam functions correctly. If the webcam stops functioning, then reboot the machine and the webcam should work again as long as Windows live messenger isn't running. I run Yahoo messenger all of the time and have no problems with it unless Windows live messenger is running or had run before using Yahoo messenger.

I had issues with the webcam and Windows Live Messenger also. Nuked it and just use Yahoo now. Haven't had any problems since then. Yahoo now lets you communicate with Windows Live anyway.
