It takes me about 2.5 hours in total to do a clean install....
About AOL IM, Try ccleaner's "tools" it has an uninstaller.
Yes you can uninstall HP Easy Setup. The first few days I had my HP, I uninstalled all the HP programs.
Remove that slingbox crap. -

2.5 hours = clean install + adding my software then following the vista tweaks guide in the windows forum. Then I just let it sit there updating.
And about the HP programs....anything that had HP in the name, I removed.
edit: here's something that might help
edit2: ccleaner discussion -
It would take a heck of a lot more than 2.5 hours to add my software and hardware.
The Vlink to the "Vista tweaks guide" does not link to the guide.
Uninstallin the HP Easy Setup makes the Internet & Digital Services icon inoperative, but sure leaves a ton of files behind.
I have particular concerns about a well known cleaner, but cannot discuss this for legal reasons. -
that's the problem. Just uninstalling software leaves a ton of files behind.
here's the tweaks guide, it's also #6 in the guide i linked before.
you can PM me about the ccleaner issues. -
FYI: My religion forbids to either send or respond with PM.
