    Hi guys.

    I finaly ordered the laptop I always wanted : a 2530p.
The problem is that it will come with vista business instead of xp, like I wanted...
I would like to know if that comp will be able to handle vista perfectly; or should I buy a xp licence?

It has 2gb of ram, an Intel Core 2 Duo Low Voltage Processor (1.2 GHz), and an Intel GMA 4500MHD.

    Thank you!

I ran Vista on my 2510p, which is slower in pretty much every aspect, and it ran just fine.

I'd wait and buy a license for Windows 7 if you don't get the free upgrade.

It will come with a free upgrade license to Windows 7, if you bought it from either a store or directly from HP.

As long as you feed Vista enough ram, which is cheap since the 2530p takes DDR2, you'll be fine.

    Hey thanks for the answers!

    Is 2 gb enough?

Also, will vista affect the battery life?

What about aero? Will it work? Because, while I don't care about it, when you disable it, vista feels kind of sluggish...

I bought my laptop brand new from an online reseller, with 3 years warranty from HP, will I get a free upgrade of windows 7?

    Thanks! :D

Aero will work just fine. 2GB should be enough, depending on what you are going to use it for. As for battery life at least on my 2510p I was able to get about the same battery life out of XP and Vista SP2.

You'd want 2 RAM modules to get dual-channel X4500 performance out of your 2530P. Eg: 2x1GB, 2GB+1GB or 2x2GB. For example, on a X3100 a single-channel RAM config provides only 65% of the performance of a dual-channel config.

I'll check that. If it's one 2gb module I'll buy an other 2gb on newegg; it's so cheap. Thanks!

I just checked and there's only one module inside, so I bought an other one from newegg :)

    Great choice :)
    I use a 2530p (SU9300, 4GB, 80GB 5400rpm, WWAN) and Vista x86 ran very smooth. Now I use Windows 7 x64 which feels pretty much the same.
I mostly do e-mail, vpn client and remote control.
What do you do with your pc?

Microsoft word, emails and I'll use various law data banks. Maybe some retrogaming :D.

Hey btw, when you close the lid of your 2530p, does it still move a little?
What notebook sleeve should I use? (the 6cells battery stick out the back)

    Thanks!
