Will the HP tv tuner work with Sony vaio notebook. I'm planning to get HP's tv tuner if quality is good because sony doesn't have a tv tuner.

HP claims that it's only compatible on select HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario notebooks.

I would actually suggest going for a quality USB tuner rather than an express card tuner. They are much more convenient, and can be brought over to basically any laptop or desktop. I think NBR did a review recently on a hauppauge USB tuner and the reviewer gave it high praises.

But is the expresscard tv tuner supposed to be faster than USB one?

Not necessarily. The protocol for ExpressCard contains both PCI-e and USB 2.0. The HP tuner card may use the USB 2.0 protocol like external USB HDTV tuners.

I would like to know whether the HP ExpressCard tuner will work with any notebooks. I don't see why it shouldn't since ExpressCard is a standard protocol. The only thing I can think of is the way HP write the driver that will only work with HP notebooks. HP could make good money if it works with any notebooks. Buy it at your own risk. The price is about doubled of a good external USB HDTV tuner. But I like the idea of having a tuner residing inside the computer (it sticks out a little bit) than having USB cables connecting to external tuner.
