My HP DV2310us makes this high pitch sound then sort of freezes usually lasting about 5-10 seconds. This is very annoying!
It never used to do this and before I could do some gaming with it but now I can't even play due to the frequent pauses that I am getting.
Even when I am not doing gaming but browsing the web it will do the same thing. Anyone have this problem?
I've tried updating drivers for geforce go 6150 but i'm not sure what the problem is? Is it a hardware problem?
If it helps i've had my laptop for about a month.

Where did you purchase the notebook? Get an exchange before time runs out; your problem sounds quite serious.

Anybody else that can recommend something? Should I try to do a fresh install of vista?

High pitched sound from where? All I can think of is the HD (lower left corner), which would be Bad.

Your computer will not start making high pitched sounds due to a software issue. This is a hardware problem; nothing you can fix yourself. Bring it back to Circuit City.

you said it just started happening, then its probably a HIGH chance its software related. but then again you said that you just had it for a month, then theres a small chance its hardware, unless something happened to your notebook? such as a drop.
