what's the highest spec HP you can get right now?

i'm not looking for looks, just spec and only specs.

    so here's what i do...

    -video editing (HD 720p)
    -crysis 2 (900p) absolute MAX
    -metro 2033 (720p) absolute MAX

    i also would like a 2,2Ghz i7 (2720?)

it would be nice if the GPU is removable :)

    thanks in advance

I doubt you'll find an HP laptop that's capable of playing Crysis 2 at extreme settings smoothly.

The GPU in the envy 17 (Radeon 6850M) plays metro 2033 on high at just 19.5 FPS.

The Envy plays Crysis 2 VERY good. I think I have mine on highest, full hd and it runs like a charm.

not on the max setting ... unless your fine playing at sub 30 FPS. Personally I cant stand less than 50-60 FPS so I rather sacrifice details.

If you want an HP laptop, you need reduce your details expectation to high or med

Otherwise get a high end Clevo or Alienware ... but these are rather pricy.

Cheapest way, by FAR, would be building your own desktop.

Do you talk about the Envy 14 or 17 when you say that? Cos I've tried all settings and well, the Hardcore one might be a little laggy but the other two are fine. I have the 2nd gen Envy 17 3D

    Crysis 2 on extreme?

The GTX 580M only makes 41 FPS on extreme, and it ranks much, much higher than the 6850...

Extreme? There's no such setting, at least not in mine, I have Full HD set and then there's gamer, advanced and hardcore, those are the ones I've tried, I back off if I've missed some settings but the ones I've tried works, not hardcore fully tho as I clearly said. BUT the Envy 17 does crysis 2 Superb.

There's a DX11 patch and high resolution textures, did you try those?

Nope. But as far as the normal game without that, it runs fine, so if he's looking for a laptop that can do that, the Envy 17 is a really nice choice, at least in my opinion.

Why would you even consider HP for a gaming laptop?! It's like going to a Toyota dealer looking for a race car.

Only the Envy 17 would come close but it might not meet those expectations.

Go look at Alienware, Asus G series, Toshiba Qosmio, and Sager.

False. The HP Elitebook 8760w with the Quadros 4000M+ GPU.

In terms of Consumer laptops, then your statement is valid.

 I have read all the posts in this thread in disbelief up until Star Forge.

In respect of consumer laptops: No.

In terms of HP notebooks as a whole: Yes.

I didn't take a look at workstations mainly because workstation GPUs have drivers that are more optimized towards CAD-type applications, rather than games. That quadro would probably be better than a gaming card for video editing, and with the proper driver mod, outpace any other HP laptop out there in games.

Honestly OP, you're looking at a very pricey laptop that can do all of that with maxed out settings (AA, quality, etc.). You're better off getting a desktop if you don't need the portability. Heck, most laptops that can do that won't be very portable in the first place...

Does the 8760w have an MXM GPU?
