It's highly unfortunate to P4 lovers that the ZD8000 is no longer on the HP shopping site.

Yea, Sometimes thats true, it really depends how "portable" you need it to be, With some rigs it's like running a car off a AA battery

I had used ZD8000 for few days before I returned it. 3 Fan Below does help cool down and temperate does run between 47C to 58C on normall use, if you play games than it will go up to 68C. But Its a Beast, sure made as a desktop replacement but still wouldn't feel comfortable using continue for hours as you would do with desktop as it does start to get warm and it's just annoying to see that $1300.00 laptop might burn up one day.

I know. I didn't like the ZD8000 myself (I'm an AMD fan/Intel Hater). I just wanted to inform those who did like it, as I know there are several people here that like the P4.

The dv8000t more than makes up for what the zd8000 could ever do.

    I wonder why?

I have an Australian delivered zd8001ap with 128Mb X600. As to annoying about seeing your laptop burn up - try around AUD3000 RRP.

I play BF2 heaps and get about an hour of game play before it crashes due to GPU issues. This has been from Day 1. I thought it may be a set-up issue so I did an identical install on a desktop - no problems.

I do not have this problem with standard work use - CPU intensive engineering calculations.

Support for Mobility X600 is pathetic.

I am on the second motherboard/graphics board (serviced as one unit). The first failed after 9 months.

I started getting serious issues again - right at the end of my warranty period.

Sure enough, four days out of warranty my super wide 17 inch panel has a vertical line of bright pixels. One week later there are now two vertical lines - sweet! Refer to photo. So this laptop is destined for the garage where it will serve as a spare parts catalogue viewer...

I got four years of hard, dusty, hot environment field use (mining) from my Toshiba Tecra 8100. The HP did not even manage 9 months of office environment duty.

    Total waste of money!

I have already bought a replacement laptop - it is not a HP.

 Wow... I am REALLY sorry to hear that! I just bought my wife a zd8215 for $900. The package with the external usb dual tv tuner box just fit for us, since I was in the market for one of those boxes for our media center anyways.

The laptop does run hot, but she won't be hard-core gaming on it anytime soon ;) I hope it lasts, or I guess I should say - if any problems ARE going to arise, I hope they do so while its under factory warranty - since I refused the extended warranty from the retailer where I purchased it from.
