I bought my dv8000t in March 29 and the best choice (cheaper) is in Costco. But now i see the prices change, and the best choice now is in HP.com, because you can get a printer free (rebate).....

****....just rest me to wait my notebook now...hehehehe

Are you sure you want the printer? You are going to pay back for the printer by the second tank of ink.
I ordered my DV4000 from HP.com only because of the sales tax charged at Costco.com made it a little bit more expensive. Now that HP charges sales tax also, so Costco should be cheaper. Remember you'll have 6 month return policy at Costco verse 21-day at HP.COM. In addition, you may get up to 3% cash rebate if you are an executive member and uses their AE card.

The "free" printer, the PSC 1410 I believe, should be renamed POS 1410. It will eat through ink cartridges like a fat kid through fried Oreos. I used it twice (5 pages in all), and the ink level only went down one notch. I try printing the next day and it tells me it is out of black ink. Ironically, the color ink level was still full. This thing has micro ink capacity (even for cheap printers). I returned that POS, picked up the Photosmart 2575v, and haven't looked back. Ink usage=money, here take a look. Approximate page yield according to HP. Photo cartridge includes black ink, so that is true cost per 4x6 plus paper and unit usage costs.

    PSC 1410
    :
    Black 5ml (150 pages) $13.49=~9¢/page
    Color 5ml (140 pages) $16.19=~11.46¢/page

    My new Photosmart 2575v
    Black 11ml (400 pages) $17.99=~4.5¢/page
    Color 7ml (260 pages) $22.49=~8.65¢/page
    Photo 13ml (130 4x6s) $22.49=~17.3¢/4x6
    Gray 15ml

Don't bother getting the POS 1410, it's not worth, regardless of starting price. The total operational cost will eventually catch up and surpass a normal printer (such as my PS 2575v).

Right. Plus, they sell you the printer and then you have to do the rebate thing. What's that about? Why not just give you the printer?

I ordered my computer through Costco because although I only saved a couple $$, I liked the 6 month return policy.

Try to call Costco to see if you get a price adjustment.

Same thing happened to me. I ordered the DV1000t on Friday. Then on Sunday, the prices went down. So I placed another on Sunday, then called today to cancel the first order.

If you're not a member, they add 5% to your order. But, being it only costs $35 to join, unless you're going to spend less then $700 (and don't plan to buy from Costco again the rest of the year) you're better off joining!

Not only do they have great prices (I compared a dv1000t from Costco.com, preconfigured, to configuring the same setup on www.hp.com, and www.hp.com wound up costing $260 more, plus tax!~) but they offer SIX MONTHS return policy! No questions asked, and they return purchase price in full, including shipping charges!

Great deal! (Keep a eye out on www.costco.com. I found an instant $150.00 off custom configured dv1000t, which I used to order. It expired yesterday, however. But, they always seem to have different deals) :)

There is only one Costco in Iowa which is in Des Moines, however, there are 4 in my area within 40 minutes driving. There was almost a fifth one coming but got objected by the residents in my area a couple months ago. :D
I wonder what is their criteria for openning a new store.

I bought a dv5000t from costco and they give you a 30 day price match meaning if the price goes down in 30 days they will refund you the difference. I called them and will receive $140.00 credit back to my charge card.

HP online stinks for ordering, return a couple of items and they will not let you by online anymore. When you do by from them they charge your credit card as soon as you place your order. Most companies including costco charge your credit card when item is shipped. The only downside to costco is that you do not get a tracking number when they ship your notebook just a email

I ordered on March 23, received shipping confirmation email March 29...but no tracking info on the Costco website. I just called Costco customer service (800-955-2292) and they gave me the FedEx tracking number. The rep had no idea why their website didn't have it. So call them.

    I bought a dv8000t from costco and I pay:
    $1515.99 + $133.41 (tax) - $150 (coupon) = $1499.40

Now, the price for the same notebook:
    $1464.69 + $128.90 (tax) = $1593.59

Well, the computer now is cheaper, but when I bought I used the $150 coupon...

Interesting. I ordered my 2nd dv1000t (canceled the first order) on April 3, and it also gave me April 12 as the expected shipping date.

So far, my order status is still "In Process"...

This waiting is driving me nuts!

I ordered on March 17th, then, with my order (Duo Core 1.66mHz, 2-516MB Ram) STILL "In Process" on April 3rd, I saw Costco was offering an instant $150 off. Figured I'd see how the price came out with a faster processor (1.83 Duo Core), 12 cell battery and single 1MB stick of Ram, and it came out cheaper then what I had on order! Even got a remote control tossed in, and it was STILL cheaper (by about $12), so....

    I'm back to waiting.....
