New to the forum but not the first time using it as a reference for information.

Now on to the topic I have. I know from what I've read that the HP mini isn't at all the best spec netbook out there however from what I've read and my taste it's by far the best "looking" netbook out there. Now I've seen the youtube videos and blog headlines about the Mi os HP is making for their line of Netbooks and I have to say its a nice looking interface for a netbook.

However here is my question. Does this OS run like windows? can i pop in lets say world of warcraft and install and play it normally? will it run blizzards background loader? i just want to know if this OS will run like a normal OS.

Or is the Mi OS ment for people who really just want a netbook for internet and small media and nothen more because the OS wont let them do anything else other than what HP gives them?

thanks for your time if you answer.

well you can pop in the wow on a usb drive, but not on disk, only if you have a external drive. because netbooks dont involve the disk drive, and yes if you have it on a usb drive you can/if you have a external disk drive you can. just search videos on youtube, i see them playing wow, and battlefront 2 on it all the time, so i say yes you can, but if your talking about the mini 1000 mi, idk its supposivley running on linux, or something like tht, so im not sure. but i assume you can, might as well just buy the hp mini 1000 and just flow with winxp on it.

Husher, if you want something stylish, go with the Asus 1002HA. It is by far the superior netbook. Style is very important, but the HP is not the best bet. The Samsung NC10 is also very stylish. On your question regarding the OS, all netbook operating systems are very limited. Asus' EEE linux environment is fairly limited. Those with it end up unlocking an advanced mode and then install windows. If you plan on doing anything more than internet and word processing, go with something with windows or a name-brand linux distro.

    thank you for your replies.

as for the thumb drive i was thinking just buying the external opt drive and installing programs on to the internal Hard drive. Now whether or not 4500rpm is good enough to run wow with out any problems i do not know but most likey one of you do or someone else does. sad about the selection of SSD size hp is offering for their netbook and still unknown if someone can upgrade that with a drive baught from newegg.

as for what i like about the hp style is the wide design and not the square. the flush flat screen and to some and few i like the touch pad design.

    BUT.
if what people are saying that the Mi, is and was made to only run internet, pictures, "select forms of media" and nothen else (perhaps a hp made word processor) then i should stick with XP. if thats the case i say pity, it is a nice looken os.

yes the new hp mini 100 mi is only going to run that, called mie, mobile internet expirience. so just buy the hp mini 1000, with xp, i replied to the mini owners lounge and posted a video with it running wow, but sadly its only a demo for it

i've seen that video. thanks for the link tho. tho does wow have to run on a usb key in order to run smoothly? can it not run well on the 60g hard drive if installed via external optical drive?

wow doesn't require a disk in order to play it plays off the hard drive.

so now this topic as gone into anther question aside from the main. which is how well game apps can run on a 4500rpm 60gig drive.

i know i know its not ment for gaming, however im not asking for the moon.

well i see that the acer aspire one can run games well, but its with a 120gb hdd and 5400rpm, i guess you could try it on the hp mini, if not then buy a external drive and try or just search for a different netbook, i understand that this one has hooked you, its a trustful name brand, and its a great design with decent specs.

i dont think it being linux is the issue. we have come to a majority idea that HP made the OS Mi to be a OS dedicated to only given the basics to which most people think a netbook should be only used for. internet, light media, pictures and they may have made a custom word processor.

now i wanna know how windows 7 would run : D

yes, but what he was asking is if the Mie os would run games, so i gave him the answer.

no it wont, but if he puts windows onto the system then it would be able to....

that was the topic of discussion CQ. whether or not the MI os could run like a normal OS in other words. install microsoft word, world of warcraft, divx ect ect but the topic ended with the majority idea that MI is a os made by HP ment for only the fallowing Internet/pictures/ light media, and really nothen more unless HP makes more apps that can run on it.

If i want this netbook to do more then the fallowing I've written above. I will have to go with the XP version.
