    Hi guys,

I currently have an HP Pavilion dv6563cl from Costco and I like it, other than it has Vista on it (Win 7 is awesome so far!). But, because I have to travel to school everyday and then having to carry textbooks or a binder, I am interested on getting the mini 1033cl from Costco ($449.99, which isn't too bad). I was actually looking at purchasing a Macbook (and sell the DV), but that doesn't solve my traveling problem.

Anyways, I'm thinking that I'm going to back to Costco this week and purchase the 1033cl. I am a little disappointed it only has a 60 GB 1.8in HDD and it doesn't have BT (ASUS offers a 160gb, but heh), however I'm only using this for solely school...and I'm still going to keep my DV system anyways.

SO, my question is...Should I go ahead and buy it? If any of you guys have a similar Mini model, would you recommend it? I plan to use my MobileMe storage and also a flash drive, so the whole 60GB issue isn't really a concern. When do guys think HP will release a newer model Mini (otherwise, I'll wait if there's one coming in the next month, etc)?

    Thanks!

HP Just came out with the 2140 which has a lot in common with the Mini 1000 series but its Aluminum, has the Dura keys (clearcoated keyboard) and a SATA 2.5 inch HDD. I am actually typing this right now from a 1035NR which is the loaded one with bluetooth. your CL model will come with a 2 year warranty from HP which is always a plus. As far as pros and cons on mine, keyboard is great even though it doesn't have the dura key coating. Size is nice, personally I like the Infinity screen although it does glare sometimes I think it would provide extra protection for the LCD. Also you can change the RAM really fast without tools so to upgrade to 2gbs is a joke. As far as cons go, the HDD is probably one the slowest ones you can find. I also have an EEE PC 4gb 7 inch model and I have to say it runs cooler and has a longer battery life. That brings up another advantage of the 2140, you can get a 12cell which should give you 6-7 hours of battery compared to 3 if your lucky from the 3 cell that comes with the Mini. If you want a Mini RIGHT THIS SECOND don't hesitate and go with the 1033cl, if not deffinatly consider the 2140 as it shares most of the 1000 series advantages and has quite a few of its own over the 2140.

The SATA drive is a plus for sure. I like 1033 for its Infinity screen. I can see myself upgrading the RAM eventually, so its good to hear I'm not limited to 1GB (on either model).

I wish the features on the 2140 was on the 1000 series, but well its hit or miss. I like the looks of the 1000, but I like the material and features of the 2140 (better).

However, what is suggested price and release of the 2140? I saw some $550 prices and that's pretty pricey, but I am selling my old desktop computer...so it doesn't feel too bad I guess.
