On the HP site the 2140 is listed to have a higher resolution screen coming soon. Does anyone know when this is? I thought it was supposed to be sometime in February, then March and now the last I read was April 1 but it looks like it's still coming soon.

Also does anyone have the extended 6 cell battery? From pictures it looks like it sticks out at a 90 degree angle to the body. When I saw it I thought it was incredibly dumb. That seems like it would affect portability a lot. Does it?

I've got the 2133 with the 6-cell battery, same as the 6-cell on the 2140, and it is something I would definitely recommend.

As well as the obvious power advantages, it tilts the unit slightly up along the rear making for much better typing comfort - something you'll appreciate very much along with that great keyboard. It also allows the fans to draw in air easier from the bottom and run the unit a notch cooler/quieter. The battery does stick out at a right angle, but it again means you can grab and hold the unit more securely, or if you do like I do, stick it under your arm and keep both hands free for coffee and handshakes.

HP will have the 10.1 inch 1366x768 display coming very soon, but I'm holding out for the Pineview refresh with the newer Atom which should be here around June. That platform should be mature enough to run Windows 7 when it arrives later in the year.

If you don't need it right now, I'd suggest holding off a HP netbook purchase, as there is definitely better stuff coming in the next 3-4 months.

Thanks Luscious. I did not know about the refresh that might be coming. I know that there's always something better around the corner.

I can see the 6 cell battery has a lot of advantages. I was worried about how it fits into a carrying case with that battery sticking out of it.

I'm constantly looking at netbooks when they come out. With netbooks it's not really a case of needing one more than wanting one so I guess I can hold out... I've been holding out for more than a year now :)

Tell me about it. I was eying the 2133 ever since it came out last year in April. Not being able to wait any longer, I finally took the plunge and bought one in August with XP. Love the 8 inch 1280 screen. No regrets about my purchase. I will be trading up to a Pineview unit with Win 7 once it becomes available. Sad to see the 2133 gone though, the hi res display and speakers on it beat the 2140.

I just got an email from an HP Sales Rep this morning- the high-res display and 6-cell battery are available to order TODAY! They're not on the regular site yet, but the email said orders placed today will ship on 4/13 (one week from today).

Maybe the options will show up on the site later today....and the prices of the upgrades...

The price is better than I thought it would be. I don't understand their pricing though. It seems the KS157UT and FM839UT look exactly the same other than the FM839UT has the higher resolution screen but the price is the same?

And then the KS144UA is more expensive than both but has the same config as the KS157UT? That seems strange.

I'm tempted to buy it... but I just can't get over that 6cell sticking out like that. It seems to defeat the purpose of having the small form factor that is one of the big advantages of the 2140's design.

I agree..but I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Given the price of the CTO 2140 w/ a HD screen and the cost of the other 2140s...I'm thinking that this is a price mistake? I can just pay the difference for the 3 cell battery later on. I just can't believe that it's $500 when the non-HD versions start skirting $600

Pineview is now called Pinetrail, and it won't be here until Sept/October (that is when Dell is refreshing it's Mini 10). HP has a new generation of netbooks coming in June which will probably get upgraded to Pinetrail, but probably sometime after the launch.

Waiting for the latest and greatest is usually a losing battle. I just hope HP supports its "old" hardware better than Sony does. >_<

There are pics of the 6-cell on HP's website, I think. If not, Google it. They're floating in the internets. It's a basic HP/Compaq design: the battery sticks out the bottom and lifts the whole computer, making it unbearably thick, but can make for a useful handle.

Do you know how much it extends the battery time and if there are any sleeves made for it?
