The HP will be of comparable quality, although not quite as good, and the keyboard will be a dissappointment after using a ThinkPad as well.

    How about a ThinkPad Z60M? That's a possibility.

I have a nw8240 at/for work. I like it but I can't compare it to any thinkpads as I have only used a couple older models. To give you a comparision, the nw8000 was built like a tank but wasn't as ergonomic in my opinion. The nw8000 is a lot thicker and weighs about the same. As far as performance both are top notch. The screen and GPU on the nw8000 has pretty much blown away everything I have seen, minus the gaming systems.

Do I have any complaints or issues after having this for 3 months? The mouse nob thinggy sucks on mine but I don't use that anyway.
