Hello to all this is my first post. i have nw8440 (RN039AW). i bought it 1,5 year ago. i think is a good notebook but i have facing problems with heat. before 4 months i went to HP service and they clean it inside and change the thermal paste cause it has been dissapeared
. now 4 moths later i am facing the same problem. After 15 minutes of use the fan goes really fast and hot air come throught. this cause, after 1 hour the heating of my laptop and i get really angry
. Would you advice me to follow the guide for 8510p? Actually to tell you the truth i am afraid a little bit doing this. Also if i will go to service again they will keep my notebook for 4-7 days. which is a long time for me
What do you think i should do? Also i have checked this thermal paste "Coollaboratory thermal paste Liquid PRo" which is better than Arctic Silver. I dont think is possible to tell them in HP's service to put another paste
what do you think?
Thanks for reading
PS: Sorry for my english

Hi
Could you download HWMonitor and post your temperature readings? -
After 1 Hour in use and playing 15 minutes a game (Pro Evolution Soccer)

Your CPU temps seems to be quite high. It should be maxing out below 80c
Your HDD temps are very good. I cannot see your graphic cards temperatures.
Before you try changing the paste again, i suggest you undervolt first. Undervolting is more effective than thermal paste, hopefully it will drop the CPU temps by 20c
Heres the guide: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824
If that doesnt work then you will have to change the thermal paste yourself. I suggest you use Arctic Silver 5 instead of Cooolaboratory.
Here is the video guide on how to do it : http://h20181.www2.hp.com/plmconten...152&MEID=3528A65A-05AC-45B9-A726-E430BC6C33F7 -
thanks for your reply. i contact to HP center and tell them that i am dissapointed with HP service.
i told them cause when i got my notebook, after 6 months i went to service for a notebook check. they told me that i may have problems with the motherbord and the fan. so that they change it for free. but the stupid **** put me another notebooks motherbord (i realize that cause after i had another graphic card), so i got back again to change to my original motherbord. then when they change my motherbord the ***** scratch my notebooks screen and i demand to change it.
Whatever, they told me that the notebook must checked and IF something need to be replaced they WILL CHANGE MY NOTEBOOK WITH ANOTHER ONE(cause the nw8440 is not in sale anymore)
Do you think this is cool???? -
Yes get it replaced with a newer notebook. Make sure you know exactly what replacement laptop you will be recieving. Clear these things up with HP
-
Hello again, i wait a long time BUT they are going to replace with a new notebook HP 8510W T9500 (KE187EA)
cool... do you agree?
-
Yes, the 8510w is a great notebook
Have a read of the review here -
i dont get it yet but i saw the specs of KE187EA and i believe are great
Also is this come with XP and Vista? -
It should come with the OS Downgrade Rights, which lets you choose XP if you do not like Vista Business.
If not, it will most likely come with Vista Business. -
It will come with XP Professional pre-installed and a Vista Business licence.

You could always clean out your nw8440 yourself. It's really easy to do. All you have to do is remove the keyboard and spray all the dust out with compressed air. Or you could just spray the compressed air into the vents without even removing the keyboard, but I would recommend the keyboard removal procedure first.
It's very easy to remove the keyboard. Just pull out the two screws on the bottom of the machine that are marked with a keyboard icon, then pull out the 4 divider tabs along the top row of the keyboard. Lift the keyboard up from the top edge, pull it up and back, and flip it over onto the palm rest. The tricky part is getting the keyboard free from the bottom edge, but if you pull it up AND back, you should be fine. Just be careful not to damage the keyboard and pointstick cables.
Here's a link to all the service videos for your notebook in case you need help removing the keyboard.
