How come I can't find many details about this laptop from the HP website or any other except laptopsdirect.co.uk?

Would the "nx" denote a European model?

No, I believe the NX8430 is model upon it's own. Mabye a special edition for europe, as it doesn't match the specs of any of the NC8430's american models.

Trust me its a miss print, it's a NC 8430.

Go and look under the student deals and you willsee this deal: here has the exactly the same laptop as your referring to here. But if you notice it is labelled correctly as the NC8430 in the student deal, but as a standalone, it is labelled incorrectly as the NX8430

Infact go look under "detailed specification" tab under the image (of the supposed NX8430), and it is labbeled correctly there as the NC8430

i was a bit suspicious of this student deal because the specification doesn't match any of the variants on the hp website. i sent an email to laptopsdirect and got a reply next day, i was told it was designed for them and i wouldn't be able to find it anywhere else. however, i like to know much more detailed specs than those which are on the website so i sent them another email about 3 days ago to ask for this and i'm still waiting

anyone ordered this? or can someone give me some more info?

Ah, who cares about the model numbering?

HP Outlet UK incidentally also have the same exact bundles...and curiously description

laptopsdirect emailed me back saying it was HP who did this...presumably to distinguish it as a student deal, i.e. it comes with 3 yr warranty along with accessories, and isn't just a laptop, hence the 'x' for a 'c'

I'm rambling. Either way, they can't exactly get away with lying :)

I have ordered this. it IS an HP NC8430 - although it hasnt arrived yet.

Have a look here - (i know it sais HP NX8430 but its a typo), and click the "detailed specification" in blue, and you will see all the details you wich to know, and you'll note that it is titled correctly there as being a HP NC8430

This is the SAME laptop that is being used in the HP student deal number 3

Every company has some bad reviews, just remember that its the customers that arent satisfied that right on these things, most people that are satsified don't usually bother to write so on these reviews.

However i have already put my oprder down :)
