I've posted in 'which notebook to buy' forum, but thought it might be useful to also post in here.

I like the look of the spec of these older [but not much] generation HP laptops, and am currently looking at a DV6 1340sa private sale 1 1/2 yrs old little use [believable] needs new battery [£30], and a Currys/PC World G62-a44SA grade B refurb at £223. the refurb has slightly better spec but ' cosmetically challenged, with noticeable flaws and cosmetic wear ' with 6 month warranty.

Does anyone have any comments or other suggestions ?

I need to make decision this morning !

use is general domestic, bit of music download, mebbe some films, hookup to tv with hdmi. . .
not expecting top performance obviously, jus want to hear any views/thoughts on these models, eg heat/fan noise issues, reliability problems, etc.

The dv6 is a more sturdy laptop, more aluminum used and more rigid chassis etc. The g6 is from the value line and therefore uses cheaper materials. For something used, I'd definitely look to the more sturdy dv6. Good luck!
