I tried to start a chat session with HP chat support but I got nothing? It opens the chat screen and says "connecting to chat, please wait" but a couple second later I get a blank screen.

The reason for trying to connect with a rep is to see why my CPU fan isn't kicking in. I have a DV1000 and it never really kicked in. I downloaded a CPU temp program and saw that my CPU, T7200 is hitting 87c....

The laptop also turns itself off when I run intensive programs.

I would not use it until you get it fixed. Those are some high temps that can basically fry your processor/gpu if you have not fried them already. Mine hovers around 55c...60 tops. That must be very toasty to the touch.

Well, I received an email from HP somehow and they gave me a step by step direction to resetting the bios and a couple of links to download. The links they provides were old (driver, graphic driver) so I just kept my current drivers and bios.

But the "resetting" the bios during boot somehow fixed the fan issue. HP has decent customer service.
