Hello HP owners. I have ordered a Lenovo T61 but it is still in production. I would jump to the HP ship in a heartbeat if only I could find a decent deal on a NC6400 or 6910p. I have the nc6400 from my work and I love how sturdy and light it is! It's a great machine.
I definitely want the 14" with 1440x900 (WXGA+) but can't seem to find any preconfigured models in either line with this option and doing a custom config.
I also want a T7300 processor, but I suppose a T7200 would be ok (I just want the 4MB cache, I don't really care about Santa Rosa.)
Anyone know the SKU numbers for the WXGA+ models?
And I also need: DVDRW, Bluetooth. Prefer dedicated graphics, RAM/HD don't matter (I will upgrade as necessary.)
Thanks!

Hi--
I've been watching for this too, and I haven't seen any preconfigured models with WXGA+ at all, which is too bad since their preconfigured models are often waaaay better deals. I did do an online chat w/ them about 2-3 weeks ago and was told at that time that if I called in they would be able to place an order w/ a WXGA+ screen. Not sure about availability/ship dates but that's what they told me then. I haven't called in to check on it. From looking at the website alone, one would conclude that they aren't actually shipping WXGA+ yet.
FYI I priced a 6910p the other way with similar specs as you configured (I think I did 160gig drive but T7100) and it came out to like $1450 USD. I'm guessing with the screen it would be around $1500. That's more than the equivalent T61 or D630 by a couple hundred bucks but may be worth it. It seems to be the lightest of the bunch. -
Then I asked about the nc6400 and she said they are discontinued. For some reason they are still available on the HP website (for a higher price than the 6910p!) but the sales rep wouldn't help me with it. She said "Try tigerdirect, newegg or CDW...."
I guess going through HP is no silver bullet either... I'll see what the T61 looks like when it shows up. -
Afaik, it's still not available with a WXGA+
Otherwise, see the link below for the SKU numbers:

The thing about it is that the screen is 200 nit while both the T61 and D630 have 220 nit screens, so I would wait for some rewiews and see how it is... since I didn't like the WXGA+ screen of the HP nc6400 and there were many complains about it in here. (I know at least one from this forum who can live with that screen though)

I do have one of these with a WXGA+ screen, but they are not very good at all. Livable, usable, but slightly sparkling (has this tiny sandy dots on white surface if you look very closely). Most of the time, you won't notice it at all unless you go looking for them. There are offices full of the nc6400 with WXGA+, and HP actually hasn't received enough complaints on these, so it's deemed acceptable. There is no problem with the brightness or colours, but display quality is highly subjective (depending on the user). Mine's made by AUO if that's any use.
Not sure if they will have improved them on the 6910p. I hope they do, but until someone tries them out, nobody knows. The WXGA+ screens are not shipping yet as we speak.
Some people also comment about the same issue with the D630 and T61, but most doesn't seem to have any problem with it. The screen manufacturer could make a difference since this problem lies in the anti-glare coating itself.
HP owners: any nc6400 or 6910p WXGA+ ?
