I'm very familiar with ground loop interference and the effect it has on my audio equipment through my laptop. When running on the battery no hum at all. I know I can purchase a hum eliminator at the power cord level and not the audio level that will eliminate the hum completely and keep the grd safety protection.

This all being said, I was wondering if any one knows the wiring of the power adapter. The one that came with this laptop has the ground on it. My older laptop (as others I've seen don't have the third grd prong) didn't have the grd.

I'm wondering if the grd is for the power adapter and not the laptop itself.
