    I just bought this notebook from circuit city, In the device manager it says its a dv9700 and in the upper right hand corner of the notebook it says its a HP pavilion dv 9000. I'm so confused I want to make sure its a dv 9720us thats what i paid for any thoughts

    edit: it is. the dv9700 is the series. dont worry.. i have a dv9640us and it says it's the dv9000

    Flip it upside down, theres the HP sticker next to the Windows sticker, the exact model number will be on the sticker.

    Yep, you have the right PC. DV9700 is the generic name for the 97xx series. Basically, the dv9700t (intel CPU) and dv9700z (AMD CPU) are customizable laptops ordered through hp.com. The dv97xx are PRECONFIGURED laptops that you can purchase at a retail store.
