For a while now, my wireless has been cutting in and out and sometimes takes about a half hour to an hour to be able to connect again. Other laptops in the house connect to the same internet connection just fine. I met a girl last night who was saying how her internet wont connect anymore and she had the same laptop as me so I'm assuming its the computer and not the internet.

even before this issue though, the wireless networks window, when you click on the two computers to see the different connections, it always freezes to a white window to begin with and will take up til an hour to actually show the different connections.

This problem is incredibly annoying and i just want a solid internet connection without it cutting out :(. Any help is greatly appreciated.

(i'm not computer smart so if you can put any help in ways that i will understand will help out a lot. haha)

Hmm, i have the same basic notebook. No problems here.

What WiFi Card do you have? Make sure you have the latest Drivers for it.

Above: pulled from the link. My old dv6424ca also had interminent wireless failures as well as GPU problems (GeForce 7200); because I was under a protected 3 year warranty, I was given my current Studio 15 as a replacement; so far, so good. The OP isn't so lucky because it'll keep failing despite any free repairs.

In the table of affected models, dv90xx laptops are listed as being affected by the problem. Thus you are eligible for the repair offer.

HP offers free shipping and repair services for affected models; all you have to do is use the contact information to have them send you a box to ship the computer in.

So i called HP customer service and she said it doesnt apply for the service enhancement cause my system does infact recognize the wireless adapter.

so she had to uninstall the broadcom something and then it reinstalled itself. and now insted of the internet cutting in and out, it wont connect to anything, period.
she couldnt solve anything, and said that the freezing of the network connections window was because my software is corrupted and that i would have to restore my computer.
I cant restore my computer right now though because i dont have the correct discs to backup my files to.

so until then i'm connected to the desktops highspeed internet wire. :(

does anyone have any other solutions?

Good old HP. Given that this is likely a hardware issue, you can be assured that it will eventually fail, if the GPU doesn't crap out first.

Have you tried installing the latest wireless driver from their website? Can you give me the exact model number? Ex, dv9xxxca
