Hey guys,
I bought an HDX18 last month with a $250 coupon (in addition to the $200 instant rebate). Now there is a 30% coupon available again and so I called HP to match it, since it has been less than 21 days since I bought it.
The guy I talked to was a real wordsmith. The first thing he said when I mentioned the lower price was something like, "Oh yeah, you're absolutely right! You would definitely be eligible for a refund!" Then he went on to say that HP no longer guarantees their price if you originally used another coupon to buy your notebook.
I mentioned to him that I was originally going to use the last 30% coupon, but the site was having problems that day and it kept redirecting me back to the HP homepage when I tried to build my notebook. So HP gave me the $250 off, but could not do the entire 30% back then. The HP rep then said what he was going to do for me was send an email with a decision within 24 hours. Great, thanks. I'm not holding my breath though...
I did not mention to him that I would just send my HDX back and reorder a new one, and that it would just save me time and HP money to just give me the refund over the phone. But, I will call them back today to see what someone else says.
Has anyone come across this new policy recently?

You should probably go ahead and order a new one since those 30% coupons go fast. I just checked, and there were about 1000 uses left out of 1500 max (I think) yesterday. I wouldn't wait for the rep to get back with you: the coupons might be gone by then. Once you've placed your new order, call back and request a return of the original. Actually, if you call with the intent to return, the rep might give you the discount right then, but I don't know if I would trust that route either since the coupons go so quickly: you could find that the refund never got processed, and they'd just say, "oops".
HP price guarantee no longer valid when a coupon is used?
