Alright, first off, I purchased a HP Pavilion DV6-3064CA and am loving it !
HOWEVER, when I was going to do some uninstalls, I realaized that there is one partition and only way to get more is to do clean install. I am wondering, due to the fact that I did not receive a Windows 7 disc although got a serial key, if I reformat it, do I lose all the HP bloatware, as I like to keep some of them. How do I go to reformat the computer, without Windows 7 and being able to keep some HP programs ?
Also, my brother is the admin for his laptop but cant download a driver to his partion, why is that and how to fix it ?
Questions:
- Do not have window 7 disc but have serial key, wondering how to reformat it to get more partions but as well keep some HP software
-Download a driver to the computer but does not save
Programs want to keep:
-Bumptop
-Touchsmart
-Fingerprint scanner
-Lightscribe burner
-Microsoft touchpack for Windows 7
-
Follow the clean install guide for windows 7 and follow it well.
The drivers for the dv6 are here.
All the hp software in the preinstall os are stored in the SWSetup folder.
It is best to go through and get collection of what gets installed and basic system hardware information before actually doing a clean install. Saves you some time and some headache. -
What drivers do I download for an AMD processor ?
-
For the amd cpu, I rather let windows 7 handle that, in my opinion.
HP question that could decide it all
