    Hi All,

first post so please bear up with my ignorance ....

I was trying to re-partition the HDD using paragon partition manager... the process got stuck in the middle....u know what happened....anyway, I had to install a different version of Vista on my HP tablet.

The current situation: Vista is not loaded with HP stuff hence tablet is not fully functional.

What I want: use my recovery partition which is still there to make the recovery discs and then restore the HP version of Vista... I don't have the recovery manager installed on my current Vista and I don't want to pay for it.

I read few posts here and there regarding the same issue but no luck. So I wonder if someone could help...

When I start my laptop and press f11, it simply doesn't go to recovery
I tried using the Vista CD to repair the boot ...etc but no success
I tried setting the recovery partition to active and here comes the interesting stuff...

it does not boot automatically into the recovery partition and it does not work with f11 either. However, when the partition is active and I insert the original Vista CD to repair. I can see that there is HP recovery partition within the available operating systems but it says (unknown location).

when I try to fix it, does not work! even using bootrec/scanos or /rebuildbcd..
when I click on the button called load drivers.... the recovery partition now is C: instead of D: but still it's unknown location to the boot menu as in the previous paragraph...

    any ideas?

PS. I would like to note that there is an unallocated space of 150G between the C: partition which is the Vista partition and the D: which is the recovery partition..

    thanks in advance

Have you tried going to HP's support section and redownloading the recover manager software to see if it can see the partition and make your recovery discs?
