I know this topic was discussed plenty on here, but I am just wondering if anybody sent their dv6000 series in for repair at HP from the famous whyne/buzzing sound on idle under the touchpad. I am supposed to get mine back tomorrow. Makes me kind of wonder since it took them only 1 day to repair, I'm afraid that the answer is going to be "The sound is perfectly normal!!". Well I hope they fixed it, I don't know if I can take the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee anymore!!!!!

I think HP released BIOS updates to fix the buzzing/whine problem, but I'm not sure if they actually did take care of it.

A repair may fix the problem, but I can't be sure if it will.

Really boils down to whatever the actual problem is, which it seems no one can figure out. Processor related, however the exact thing creating it is unknown, as far as I know.

One person on here(If I remeber correctly) said he fixed the buzz sound by downloading the latest bios, but I think his buzz was comming from the HD

Well, that would make more sense, if the sound was coming from near the touch pad.

Either way, I wanna know what's causing the sound. Seems rather interesting, yet odd at the same time.

Well just an update, I got my dv6103 back from HP, THE BUZZING SOUND IS STILL THERE!!!!!!  ! I mean really!
The note says that they detected the issue and that all it needed was a BIOS update, witch is the same one they have on hp support website. They did a 22 point system check, and everything is running fine, yeeaahh! Other than the eeeeeezzzzzzeeeeeezz!!!!! I mean don't they turn the computer back on and see if the noise is gone??? They probably did, and not knowing what it is they just send it back to me. YEEAAHH! Now that is what I call customer service at it's best!! NOT! Tomorrow I am going to call the "management team for support" Hey, at least they speek real English, or at least that you can understand, and their name is really John or Sam ect.
OK, I think I'm donne for now.

If you send it in, I hope you have better luck with the repair center than I did with my dv5000.

I had to call a supervisor to about the repair center and they still didn't replace my laptop, so I am still dealing with what I got back from the repair center. In march I am moving to the Mac world and leaving HP in the dust.

Well for anybody still reading this thread, I wrote a tiny article regarding a fix for this problem. You can find it at www.IntriBit.com/tips. Basically, this is just a problem with the processor and the power capacitors, ect. If the processor is at full power it will give off that irritating buzzing (e ee eeeee) sound. Go ahead and check out the site and hopefully it will take care of your problem.
