So, I had an older presario v3018cl, I got it about 6 months before vista came out on purpose. Apparently it has a defective MB and HP offered to fix it for free. Long story short they have had it forever, still don't have the parts, and are offering to build me a new one with similar specs. This is what I had
AMD 64 x2 1.6ghz
2gb memory
integrated video
dvd burner/lightscribe/dual layer etc..
had windows MCE on it
It was also the all black version, so it looked cool!
They offered this DV2700T SE
Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T5750 (2.0GHz)
Display 14.1" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)!
128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
Personalization HP Imprint Finish (Verve) + Microphone + Webcam
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
Primary battery High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
I'm stoked as it has a dedicated graphics card, albeit not a top of the line one. I haven't kept up with CPU's so I m not sure if I should try and get a faster one out of them or not. It took them 2 weeks just to get a box sent to me when thats how long they said the whole process would be. So if you guys see something I should push for let me know. I really like the artist edition over the SE but not sure If I should ask for it![]()
I don't game a lot, maybe some CS:Source and sims games here and there. I mostly run Adobe cs3 suite and do a lot of web design. Any help would be great!

looks like a good upgrade to me...

I'd demand better specs (better CPU and faster hard drive)
Not that they're giving you a bad deal, but I'd try to milk them anyway -
Yeah, I might call her back and see if they could do the 4gb ddr2 since its running 64bit. I don't think changing the processor from 2.0 to a few mhz will help more than the memory. I work for the largest HP retailer in NA, and mentioned that I help sell a lot of their product, I think that helped haha.

I am now worried about the nvidia announcement about the 8400 and 8600 chips all being defective....sigh...don't think I could talk HP into a newer model with a better card.
HP replacing my laptop, what to do?
