So, I really want the Envy 14. but I really need a laptop. but I REALLY want the Envy 14...

how is HP with their return policy? Have any of you ever had any bad experiences with returning a laptop to them?

if you haven't guessed, I'm thinking of ordering a laptop now (probably the dm4t) to use for the next month, returning it, and ordering the 14 when it is released.

21 day return policy, if you don't like it for any reason (keep all your packaging and boxes and stuff and don't damage if obviously) you can return it but you don't get reimbursed for shipping.

Be aware they will try to talk you into keeping it. They offered me a $50 gift card, then $160 gift card to keep my Envy (which I did). If you still want to return it they will email you a link and you can print your shipping label and bring it to your closest Fedex. Its a pain-free process.

thank you, but I know what the policy states, I'm simply asking how they act in the real world.

The way Johnobts describes it is how it generally goes. They do offer you something to keep it. Used to be a partial refund to your method of payment. But it looks like they are giving GC's.

    It is a painless process.

Their return policy is one of the best out there. You don't even have to give a reason. Just call and tell them you want to return it, they'll try and offer you gift cards or credits, and if you turn them down the process is easy.

yes, I was going to return the Beats Limited and order a more upgraded model. but by that time, I would have to pay a whole lot more for a limited edition again (I snagged mine for under $1300). So I just did the upgrades myself and pocketed the $160 voucher from HP and bought an external battery.

$1300 !!! It's incredible steal, mine is around $1250 but much less upgrade

How did you get that ?

The starting price of limited edition is $1999

    I'm jealous

When I called to return my Envy, it took over half an hour to get a return shipping label on the phone while they got supervisor approval or something in customer retentions.

You do not pay for the shipping back to their facilities and they email you a label to dropoff at a fedex facility.

The representative called me back to offer me an additional 10% discount on my Envy on top of the other 10% discount and $450 off coupon. So I basically got an envy 15 base model with 1080P for 780 or so before taxes. In addition they extended my 21 return period another week to try it out. I'm still comtemplating whether to keep it or not because of the high pitched whine it emits even when the computer is put on sleep.

Wow. Even with such an annoying problem I would have to consider keeping it for that price.
