I'm wondering what the experience of others has been like who have ordered via phone. I placed an order last Friday with the small business division, including applying for a lease. So far so good. Lease papers come via email on Monday. I call the rep to confirm the order, since she never gave me an account number and I could not access the cart. Can't reach her; I leave a message Monday AM. She calls me back Tuesday AM. I ask her about applying the $100 coupon code; she says she'll check with her manager and get back to me. No call back. I finally try to call again Wed AM; she says she will call me back in 15 mintutes. Do I need to say it? Never calls. I leave a message Wed PM; and try another rep. He says they work on commission and I should give her another chance and then call her manager. So far today we have played phone tag twice and her manager is on vacation! IT's going on a week almost and the computer still has not been ordered! Is this typical, and what I can expect from Tech Support as well?! Or am I just over-sensitive...

No kidding - that thinkpad is looking pretty darn good right now. Only problem with that is their leasing program is only for businesses with over 20 employees, so I'd have to come up with the cash.

no, that's bad, I've ordered through Dell over the phone and they'll basically hold your hand until you finally buy something...and like a true sales person they'll hound you if you waiver or delay. That's very strange behavior for a company's salespeople to brush you off when trying to buy products.
You're not over-sensitive, HP's sales group is a bunch of slackers apparently. I'd leave a message saying you'd like to cancel your order and that you've found a Dell machine for cheaper that suits your needs and see if they call back to try and get your business. If not, I'd seriously look elsewhere. -
Update: though the manager is on vacation, i got someone she works with who says this is NOT typical and she's recieved several complaints about this particular rep this week. When the boss gets back she's busted. Unfortunately the $100 off only applies to the home division, but this person did upgrade me to overnight shipping.
Be interesting to see if the rep ever calls back. -
well...jrpice if you aren't gonna use the $100 off, I would really appreciate u sending it to me!

I just ordered my custom zx5000 online recently (arrives monday) and customer service was quite helpful. I made a mistake... and I called back 2 days later. I wanted to make a change but they said you can't because the custom order is sent to the warehouse for assembly. So I asked for a supervisor. He sounded like he was in India, not easy to understand, but very helpful and polite. He canceled my order and I got all my card credited after 3 days. He also gave me his name and extension so I was able to get right back to him when I called to check on the status of the cancellation. Ordered a new one on the site, everything went smoothly after that.

My original rep never had the balls to call back. I did mention the grief I got to the financial manager, hoping he might throw something in, but no. The machine is now off to be assembled, but after checking the status it looks like there are several parts backordered, so we'll see if they can make the 8/5 delivery date.
My only possible concern is that I got the sxga screen - hope I don't regret that.
