Hey guys, I'm about to buy HP dv3t for my gf for school and being in Canada I gotta get my relatives to buy it for me. Now There's 2 options at the end to pick for shipping, one is standart 5-7days that is Free and other is 2 day shipping for $39. Now doesn't the laptop get custo built ? I thought u have to wait a while before u actually get it. I a going to visit them this weekend, but will picking 2 day shipping actually get it there in 2 days ?

If it is custom built then you should have an estimated build date which will be about 2 weeks. So in 2 weeks they will ship it. If you choose free shipping it will take an additional week for you to receive it so if you're in a hurry you should choose 2 day shipping.

Actually, in practice, 5-7 day shipping takes 3-4 days, unless it gets caught up in customs.

NO NO NO. dont pay for the quick shipping. once the laptop is shipped from china it will only take a couple days to reach you anyway. trust me, 95% of people will agree with me on this.

Sublime is correct - they always pad the ship date to make it look like you're getting better service than you really are. Everyone gets their system about 5 days ahead of time or more.

If it's a CTO unit (specific configuration on the HP site) then it will assembled to order in China. If it's a common configuration then it could be a pre-configured unit coming from somewhere closer, either in Canada or here in the States. You never know. CTO units almost always come from China though (Ugh).

Gotcha, so I'll just pick the free shipping, no reason to pay that much if u'r waiting more than a week anyway. thx guys
