The slickest, and best name hp has ever come up with for a notebook series, is the Spectre name. It sounds great, and the choice of logo is also the best hp has ever come up with.
In japan higher end toyota models are called toyotas, in the US they branch off and call them Lexus, complete with a more inspired looking logo.
HP should do the same. Ideally the spectre series should be without optical drives, using that added space for more battery and higher end components like better graphics and better cooling. They already have a spectre series coming out in a 13 and 15", but they should not ONLY keep the name for the ultra thin and lights, they should still make a full power version of the spectre series, that is thicker. Kind of like the original envy series, but without the crappy heating issues and terrible battery life. I think alot of people would gravitate towards such a machine, and this logo and stand alone branding would not hurt it.

I disagree, HP should do more to consolidate their line of notebooks not expand them as most are unimpressive. They just came out with a whole new line of ultrabooks with last years technology, not sure what they're smokin' over at HP but it seems to give them about a 9 month delayed reaction time to technological trends.

The first year or two of the Envy line was pretty much what you're describing the Spectre as here. There were technical flaws, sure, and some QC issues in the assembly plants, but that's not going to change with a name change.
What you're asking for is just a more convoluted version of what a lot of us want with the Envy line - a more compact lineup of top-of-the-line consumer notebooks that hits all of the sweet spots in terms of market positions (ultrabook, mid-size high power, thin-and-light DTR) and features (portability, battery life, power, cooling). Basically, you're asking for the Envy/Spectre lineup to have the engineering and at least the specs of MacBook Pros, but with Windows and without the heating issues or (hopefully) the price tag.
Incidentally, what is the 15" Spectre you're talking about? There was a rumor a few months ago, but HP's announced a ridiculous amount of new laptops in the last few weeks, including some that aren't geared to land for another 5 months, and there was nothing about a Spectre 15. It probably went vaporware. -
its not actually a 15" spectre, just an envy 6 -

The rumored Envy 15 Spectre was supposed to start at something like $1899. I don't know many details, though I feel like the rumors suggested it was intended to be a bigger version of the Gorilla Glass 14 with a 1080p screen and a discrete GPU, but either way, that price point doesn't mesh with the Envy 6. If you're suggesting Spectre as the most premium that HP offers, the Envy 4 and Envy 6 are far from qualifying.

Rubberized finish on an all-metal chassis? No thanks. I strongly prefer the original etched paisley over the Beats editions - it's metal and it's unique among other laptops. If you want it to be the Spectre lineup, I would stick with the Gorilla Glass style. Sure, it's divisive, but it's also very stylish and distinctive.
HP should branch off the Spectre name
