I just recently bought a used DVD6 and did a complete windows7x64ultsp1 install and loaded all the needed drivers but for some odd reason couldn't get the touch scroll to work? I looked online and did the power off remove battery and press power button for 30 sec and plugged power and battery back in and still no touch scroll function for the volume. But the volume icon on the taskbar will show the volume going up and down as you touch the scroll bar but nothing will show up on the screen? Does anyone else know what else to try to get the volume touch scroll to show back up? I have a DV6-1355DX....I will keeping trying to figure out what is happening and no I don't have the recover cd/dvd if anyone is wondering bought used and no disc. I did manage on my two other HP dv4, dv5 get the volume scroll back by disconnecting the touch screen function cable from the motherboard and reboot and and plugged the cable back in and that got my scroll function back but not for the DV6. So I am at a lost as to what else do I need to do to make it work?

I suppose you have Synaptics touchpad. Have you enabled scroll function in the Synaptics program?

I don't know what you mean and I have a DV6 and DV7 as seen in my sig? Sorry.... :(
When I want to reduce or increase volume I use the little speaker keys above the "9", "0" and "-" keys with the speaker increase, speaker decrease and speaker mute icons on them.

Sorry, I can't be of any help!

oh ok...no I meant on the touch scroll about the function keys there is a "-" and "+" that increase and lowers the volume but at the same time when you do that you get a on screen indicator that shows your volume as it goes up and down. Sorry, that what I was asking about the visual indicator that comes on the screen when you adjust the volume. I tried various install of the software for the HP dv6 from HP but that visual indicator doesn't come on. But the volume on the task bar will show the volume go up and down so I do know the volume itself works. Just trying to figure out if I was doing some different install that the volume touch scroll wasn't showing the volume display on the screen to see. Hopefully this helps more...

I got the recover cd and restored the laptop and yes the volume touch scroll does work and the on screen indicator works. So I am thinking I missed some kinda install on the a clean windows 7 install. So I will reinstall a retail and load some older drivers for the smart-menu and quick launch buttons to see if the older drives would work better and then update to the new drives after that.

ok followup to my prior reply after which I got the recovery cd and rebooted to factory setup and yes the volume touch on screen volume indicator does work. I will include a screen shot of what I am talking about so others reading will have a better idea what I meant.

I hope this helps more its the HP Volume OSD that when I do a custom install of my own W7x64 Ult SP1 and install the HP drivers separately that I don't get this Volume OSD to display but the volume is working you can see it go up and down in the taskbar location when factory install is rebooted back to the laptop. It's possible I need to have beyond the smartmenu and quick launch drivers installed will need one of the smartmenu program ie webcam installed to see the Volume OSD. But I will give it a try again and do wipe and clean install with my own O/S and install smartmenu, quick launch and webcam and see if the Volume OSD returns. If anyone knows more can inform me that would be great.
